Sony NW-ZX300
I have no idea how it works in the device but In my mind, once the database is "created" following changes (i.e adding songs) it shouldn't need to be re-created until there are further changes? I'll have to remember to turn it on several minutes before I intend to use it! :/ So you disable...- shamrock134

Sony NW-ZX300
Finally had a chance to listen to my new ZX300.:L3000: Does it have to create its database every time it turns on? It takes quite a while with a fully loaded 400GB card.:triportsad:- shamrock134

Sony NW-ZX300
There was a slight mishap with the address and it ended up at a building across the road but I'm happy to say I now have it in my hands and since it seemed come from China via the Netherlands I bypassed any import duty. Look forward to playing with it later!- shamrock134

I notice you also have the R6. Do you prefer the Sony or the Hiby? I'm not really that fussed about streaming but it is a slight shame the Sony doesn't allow for Spotify.- shamrock134

Sony NW-ZX300
My opportunity to purchase a ZX300 for £370 was a dead end so I've pulled the trigger on the ZX300A from Joybuy for £295. I hope it sneaks through customs but I've not had much luck with other stuff from China in the past. I'll grab a 400GB card and balanced cable too and hope I made the right...- shamrock134

Sony NW-ZX300
Having read through most of this thread I feel I'm getting closer to ordering a ZX-300. I do have some concerns about the bass as I listen to a lot of EDM and D&B which rely a lot on powerful, deep bass. I would be pairing it with UM Merlins and intend to buy a balanced cable. The other dilemma...- shamrock134

New Cowon V
Great review. I look forward to your comparison with the ZX300! Do you have any sort of ETA from Joybuy? I have concerns about the bass having read through the thread but it definitely beats the Plenue V when it comes to storage capacity.- shamrock134

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.
Wow, thanks for the honest appraisal! Some of those points sound like deal-breakers to me. I'll check out the models you mentioned... there's so many to choose from in the £200-£500 price bracket.- shamrock134

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.
Just the kind of insight I'm looking for, thanks! The thing that's kept me on an iPod all these years is the storage capacity. Now I can finally store 400GB (or 2TB one day?) on one device it's the right time to upgrade I think!- shamrock134

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.
Is the R3 the DAP for me? For nearly 10 years I've used an iPod Classic 6th gen 120GB and Headstage Arrow amp paired with various bass-orientated IEMs. I eventually settled on UM Merlin CIEMs and have been satisfied for many years. Recently, I borrowed a friend's Cowon Plenue D and was very...- shamrock134

New Cowon V
If this supported larger than 128GB cards I'd order one right now! 192GB won't quite fit my entire library on.:triportsad: I borrowed a friend's Plenue D recently and I was very impressed by the sound, especially with subtle use of JetE5 and BBE+. The interface was slightly laggy so I hope this...- shamrock134

REVIEW: Unique Melody Merlin - hybrid dynamic/balanced armature custom IEM
Do you have a direct link to a UK seller of such a cable? I want to be sure as there seem to be different types of 2-pin CIEM cable. This for example wouldn't fit... http://www.custom-inearmonitors.co.uk/ultimate-ears-ue-pro-spare-replacement-detachable-cables-for-custom-iems-in-ear-monitors.html- shamrock134

REVIEW: Unique Melody Merlin - hybrid dynamic/balanced armature custom IEM
Does anybody know the correct type of replacement cable for the UM Merlins? Mine is starting to deteriorate where the ear guides meet the connectors. Since I can't find anywhere that sells UM spares in the UK, I was looking at these...- shamrock134
