Has anyone done a direct comparison of the older XC and the new 2021 version. I have the older one with the bubinga wood. Im wondering if i should upgrade. I like the XC but its a bit uncomfortable because its so heavy. I play bass and i like the good bass response and i like the looks of the wood.

Thanks! You’re right but in this case im connecting the iPad/iPhone as an iPod as stated in the manual. Im using Flacbox app to browse and play the flac files. So I add the external HD to the iPad. Not directly to the marantz. Your solution is nice with the raspberry :)

What do you guys think of the Marantz HD-DAC1? Really affordable to get. (400 used). The Questyle CMA600i is also on my shortlist.

I got Audirvana and I can use a lot of EQ plugins which I normally use for creating music. Works quiet well :-) Thanks for pointing me in this direction!
