    Android phones and USB DACs

I can confirm that with the galaxy s4, the quad verizon variant only works with my Fiio e07k over usb with usb audio recorder pro, doesnt work otherwise. It seems to recognize it somehow, playing a track in the native music app and google play music makes it skip quite fast, sometimes 20 seconds...

Quote: I would, and I do believe my Fiio would drive them, Im just not sure on Ultrasone since Im having customer service issues, and with them breaking this quick in. I really dont abuse them, so Im not sure.   I would really enjoy the 770's if it weren't for the non-SQ shortcomings...

Quote: I do mildly prefer the boosted bass of the AT's, but the main thing attracting me to them is the difference in foldability, construction strength (how well they will last with a lot of wearing around the neck + mobile use) and volume conditions (isolation, impedance, max input power...

Im torn between the Beyerdynamic DT770's, leaning towards the 80 ohm version of the 3 variants, and the Audio Technica ATH-PRO700mk2's for my uses;   Mixing live, danceable types of rock and metal + dubstep and related kinds of electronic music, as well as gaming, game audio mixing, and all...

Im looking for new headphones again, it seems. For starters;   I started with AKG k271 mkii's and the right side went out, so I returned them. I really liked the accurate mids, the band comfort and the velour pads, and although good, they could have had better isolation.   Aftterwards, I...

Quote: I got my Fiio E07K and it really gets the job done, at least coming from someone barely squeaking through audiophile territory (not that I consider myself an audiophile yet anyway). Good boost in sound quality coming out of my sager and good amplitude for any of the (very few)...

Im almost centered on the HFI-780s for the good mix of good, clear, non-one note bass, the forward mids and the clear and extended highs, the foldable and very durable design, and the $150 for them. What does the extra $50 do for the 750 pros? If its a big noticeable difference besides sound...

Quote:   I looked, and they look quite promising, although the parts that get me are that; The max input power seems quite low, considering I have a big mix of stuff theyll be getting source from, rather its my Fiio, a big PA, home theater, etc and Im not so sure about that low an...

Ill simplify what Im looking for to keep it easy.   I want a comfortable pair of closed cans, but I want more stress put on the durability of them. Plastic is almost not an option unless its out of the ordinary.   I need over the ear closed for isolation and the environments I work in...

Quote: Im very much liking those KRK's, Im wondering how they didnt come up in my searches before. Even found them for $139 on amazon, does that seem reasonable for them?   Also wondering about them, keeping in mind that they are (from all the readings I found on them) pure reference...

So I just put a pair of AKG K271 mk ii through a sort of trial period, these being my first real good headphones for a frame of reference.   I say trial because the right cup went out, and between heavy dismantling (beyond taking the inside of the right cup out to check the wires, which are...

    SPL Calculator

Im definitely gonna keep that tucked somewhere, thanks! Just doing the research on headphones I was doing, I always keep in mind this thing about my ears where frequencies get overlooked or muffled at low volumes due to a misshapen ear canal from many childhood ear infections and surgeries.  ...

    SPL Calculator

I made this to shorthand making the calculations easier, as Ive been looking through all this new info and audiophile gear. I wanted to share it figuring someone else out there may have a use for it. About as simple as they come.  Feedback appreciated but not necessary.  ...
