Sony IER-M9 impressions thread
M9 was meta before meta was a thing. Oh wow, the M9 has definitely pushed treble I think. What is your benchmark?- MudEnjoyer

Sennheiser IE900 Review, Measurements, & Harman Target Talk
I cannot listen to the IE600 for long because they give me a headache. I can understand why people love them, but damn it's not for me.- MudEnjoyer

SONY IER-Z1R
The Z1R rolls off the treble at higher impedances (IMO sounds better). Unless the cable is royally messed up, the actual impact on sound should be imperceptible for human hearing.- MudEnjoyer

Rank the IEM's you've heard
Yeah I get what you mean. To be fair I rate my IEMs mostly on mids and specially treble performance since bass is so easy to fix with EQ.- MudEnjoyer

Z1R actually has rolled off sub bass which combined with boosted treble makes it for a really impactful experience. M9 sounds more fun when rolling off its bass extension too (this is what the Walkman DC Phase filter does and it is an insane pair for the M9). This is also what foam tips do too...- MudEnjoyer

SONY NW-ZX700
I really enjoy both, they are different enough that they can be on the same rotation. Bass: Z1R > M9 (the M9 has better sub bass extension but Z1R sounds way more powerful and fun) Mids: M9 > Z1R (both aren't the best but the Z1R has really really awful mids) Treble: M9 > Z1R (although the...- MudEnjoyer

Sony XBA-N3AP and XBA-N1AP — Impressions thread
People often say the N3 is some sort of baby Z1R but in my opinion the M9 sounds way closer to it. It's a definitive technical upgrade over the N3 but if your main focus is the bass you might be disappointed. Specially if you use silicone tips. The M7 has better mids than both the N3 and M9...- MudEnjoyer

SONY NW-ZX700
I mostly main iOS devices which I upgrade every 2 years or so and the ZX707 felt sluggish from day one. It didn't get worse with upgrades but it didn't improve either. It's not a big deal because I do nothing but playing music but there's always some adjustment period going from the phone to...- MudEnjoyer

Sony XBA-N3AP and XBA-N1AP — Impressions thread
Main reason I use tips with wax guard with Sonys and don't mess with the foam unless strictly necessary. Honestly the foam part is such a mess! When mine break I guess I'll just remove it and autoeq it I guess. To get an idea. This is limited from 1.5 to 8kHz and results in 4 filters. The...- MudEnjoyer

SONY IER-Z1R
AZLA Max Standard, AZLA Foamax, Comply TRZ-200, Sony EP-NI1010 The first one is silicone, the other are foams but since I do not roll them they last long for me. If you do deep insertion with the Z1R I cannot recommend Comply because the stem is way too rigid and hurts.- MudEnjoyer

SONY IER-Z1R
I pushed my IER-M7 filter too deep while cleaning once (that's why I exclusively use tips with wax guards for Sony IEMs now btw) and I can confirm via measurements that while the foam is glued for practical purposes, as long as the foam is in place it won't affect the sound. I personally...- MudEnjoyer
