I am not for a portable Dap, I would prefer for a desktop Digital "audiophile" player with HDD and USB. In my opinion, no need to include a DAC, however the system must have connector to connect an external Dac or an nternal alien dac inside the enclosure fro example. It can ba a choice for...

what about the mogami W2893, it seem lighter and more flexible than the 2534. Electrical spec are not as good as the 2534, but I don't think the difference is audible.

May be one way to achieve a good player is to use a ITX Pc, the nano itx motherboards is 12cm x 12cm and has everything you need. I am not sure they are fanless but it can use external PSU. If you want to go smaller you can go with the Pico Itx it's 10cm x 7 cm. Via who promote the Itx format...
