Regarding the DAC - I think the main issue is it stinking/sucking - but compared to hooking it up to my CD player, the level is much lower. I really have to crank it with the DAC, where as the line in from my CD player seems to have a lot more force and drive.

For my X-CAN V8, I am guessing since the manual really does not even mention this is even a tube amp - there is nothing special I need to do. However, I leave my phones plugged in all the time. I only amp for 1 power cycle per day. I let it warm up for a few minutes before playing...

You are preaching to the choir. I love my headphones and amp, but at the end of the day, a dedicated HT system and dedicated 2-channel system will be part of my life. I am just thrilled at what I was able to accomplish for $700.

I have had my Denon AH-D2000's for over a year, driven off my Harman Kardon receiver (a crime, I know...) - which rock. I have had my X-CAN V8 for about 2 weeks now, and I have been using it hard to get it settled in (and to enjoy it!) Probably closing in on 200 hours (yes, I use it a LOT)...
