Sounds about right. Have a Cavalli Liquid Fire staring me in the face, been meaning to find tubes for. It was a sweet sounding amp back in the day:).- Joe Skubinski

I see the model Violecric V550 is made for lower impedances. Since you have 2 of them, which Bakoon works best with DTC?- Joe Skubinski

Diana: the second release by Abyss Headphones!
All modern amps are for the most part flat frequency response, yet that all sound different. That's the trouble with measurements, they require experience to interpret them, and even then it's only part of the overall picture, that is unless you designed the thing. If you're saying that...- Joe Skubinski

Given an amplifier has a specific output power into 100 ohm load (headphone) and half that power into 50 ohms, how would you characterize the output impedance of the amp? What’s causing a 50% drop in power when it should have doubled down? I mean, we’re not talking driving a dead short here, 50...- Joe Skubinski

@Svstem my comments concerning the V281 concerns it's sonic character. Have you seen measurements of the V281? Google it. Notice how it begins to roll below 100 Hz. That doesn't;t bode well for low frequency extension and definition. Notice how it's output power drops with decreasing impedance...- Joe Skubinski

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
I had specific design parameters for the stock cable for the original AB1266. It had to be clear to the source, low capacitance to play nice with what was then a mixed bag of headphone amps, non-microphonic, durable, and lightweight enough to not weigh down the headphone. From a cost...- Joe Skubinski

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
The stock cable for the AB1266 is specific to this headphone. The fillers are used to properly space the conductors to set up the capacitance and inductance mating to the drivers. To say the fillers contribute nothing to the sound is not accurate, they are a significant part of the design of the...- Joe Skubinski

@WaveTheory You're running what we would consider obsolete gear. The Berkley S2 DAC is an old design, DAC's have come a long way since circa 2012. This is most likely the largest flaw in your system, the source, no getting around it. The V281 amp was not exactly designed with low efficiency...- Joe Skubinski

@Shini44 you may want to try a different cable. I don't think an aftermarket silver litz is a good idea with Diana TC. It may work well with headphones having a slightly softer top end, not here. Of course it's difficult to tell what you're really hearing from your system. PM me if you want to...- Joe Skubinski
