DSLR for under $300?
If you can spend $350 to $400... you're right in the ball park for a nice used DSLR. I just sold my 1.5 year old D50(body only) for $350 on craiglist.... If you look hard enough... I think you can get a kit lens and a D50, D40 or D70 for right around $375 ~ $400. Stick with Nikon and Canon...- Isao

Here's my Seiko Black Monster. Picked it up a few months ago... I thought it would be huge on my skinny wrist.. but it feels/looks fine. It feels real solid. Only thing is that it runs about 5 min fast per week... Its going to cost more to get it regulated then what I paid for it. If...- Isao

The NIKON Thread (Talk About Nikon Stuff here)
Unless you are a pro.... you I don't think you'll see much difference between the tamron 17-55/2.8 vs the nikon 17-555/2.8 ....except the $800 difference.- Isao

The NIKON Thread (Talk About Nikon Stuff here)
For me the choice between the 70-200 vr and 80-200 af-d comes down to AF-S vs. AF-D not "VR". I need the faster focus speed of the 70-200 using AF-S technology instead of the screw driven AF-D. I know the faster focus is going to make a big difference in my sports shooting. That is the ONLY...- Isao

New to the DSLR Game... Sony a200!
I just upgraded from a D50 (6meg 2.5fps) to a D200 (10meg 5fps). I didn't fill up my 2gb card before... but now I find I can almost fill up a 4gb card shooting my sons lacrosse game (Capacity is 1700 shots in large basic jpeg) . I easily shoot 1200 shots in about a 1 hour game..... Isao- Isao

Used DSLR's?
I second the choice for nikonians.org..... You'll find the best prices/deals on craigslist....If you know what you're looking for. Especially since you can hold it in your hand first to test it out. Isao- Isao

Sharpest Telephoto Lens Under A Grand?
I say get the 80-200 as well. I have the AF-D 2 ring version (won't work with d40). Optically the 4 versions are almost identical...just different AF or technologies (VR, AF-S, AF-D, push-pull). Just one thing... the 80-200 af-s going to look HUGE on your d40. You'll love the images!! Isao- Isao
