    Vali 2 tube rolling

Thanks j! Don't even get me started. lol I used to own a Mapletree Ear+HD. Awesome amp. Had some nice 12xx7, 7025s (my fav) and 5751's, but some tough times came about and had to sell it. Included all the tubes with it. Little did I know, 5 years ago the adapters were gonna be in full...

    Vali 2 tube rolling

@inmytaxi, a pic would be really helpful. If you are you using it straight up in the Vali 2 without an adapter, it's a 6922/6DJ8 or a drop in replacement. Where we at Vali 2 spankers??? Nobody spanks the Vali 2 anymore 😥 Well, I am!!! Fitted her with a delicious Ampy 12AT7 tonight...

    Darkvoice 336i & 336SE Tuberolling PartII

Hey j, Mine has the Fitz mod. Couple weeks after I received it, I sent it to him. He did his thing and sent it back. Never again has a tube hummed in the DV. They might have corrected that issue as the years passed, but not sure. Hey Slade, Thanks! Cheers!

I hear ya Slade. Adapters are addictive, but they maximize your amp. You are not tied down to their set configuration and the WA2 and DV love them. But, there are many drop in tubes to the 6922/6DJ8 drivers as well. I spank my WA2 every few months with a pair of Tung Sol 6BZ8s. No adapter...

    Darkvoice 336i & 336SE Tuberolling PartII

Lol. I meant basic in terms of DV stock tube complement. Back in 2008 when I purchased the DV and started this thread, that was all we had. The 6SN7, 5692, 6080, 6AS7, 7236 and 5998. The Bendix 6080 was the power tube to be had back then. Then adapters came into play and made the rabbit...

    Dac/amp for Sennheiser HD660S

Hello Janala, If you like the HD660S, keep them. They are nice phones. They are not hard to drive, but do benefit with amplification. I would recommend the Vali 2. Way under your budget and spanks all my phones, including the HD650s. Cheers!

Where you at UT? How's the great white north? 🤣🤣🤣 After all the great times we had years ago with the DV, you are coming back to the Darkside? Lol. Good times. A Sylvania Gold 5670 paired with a nice 6080, spanks any phone. Cheers!

    Vali 2 tube rolling

Might give a listen to the GE 5670 5-star white later on. I knew I had some RCA Command, but not for this amp :triportsad: You should have seen the prices of the 6SN7s 16 years ago, to where they are now. But tube prices do come in waves sometimes and you can find great deals.

    Vali 2 tube rolling

Yes. Exactly the same. The 7N7s and 7AF7s most get a lot of getter flash, but they are still strong regardless of the flash. I test all the tubes I buy and have always received strong ones.

    Vali 2 tube rolling

Hey Trev, There was a thread years ago about the 7N7 & 7AF7. Earl (sacd lover) was the tube guru (maybe still is, but don't think he posts anymore), among others. I learned a lot from him. Years ago many of us owned Singlepower amps, that started us all in the adapters and tube journeys...
