Built a CMOY, noticing hum
Quote: I used masking tape just to check. And it worked. The CMOY grounding against the case (from the pot) caused a hum while using coaxial input to the y1 DAC > amp, that is now gone.- HairyMerkin

Built a CMOY, noticing hum
If there is continuity between the altoids tin and the CMOY I need to put something inbetween where they touch, right?- HairyMerkin

Built a CMOY, noticing hum
I've got a multimeter, what do I need to check? If that was the case, and it was the CMOY wouldn't it also have a hum when I'm running off USB on the dac? It doesn't- HairyMerkin

Built a CMOY, noticing hum
Quote: Isn't that what S/PDIF connectors are? RCA jacks for coaxial S/PDIF, and toslink for optical? How do I tell if they are insulated on the cmoy? They look identical to...- HairyMerkin

Built a CMOY, noticing hum
I've got a hum when my CMOY is silent. I'm fairly certain it's a ground thing because I can eliminate it entirely if I touch the 3.5mm jack and the outside of the case. nb. I have a cable that ends in a gold connector (metal) and that's what I'm touching. It's a ground loop...- HairyMerkin

Banzai Cmoy mods
My CMOY also is unblanced at low volumes.. It's quite annoying. Is there a recommended brand of pots?- HairyMerkin

Strange question - found 2 old PPAs that are 95% complete
You could donate them to me, and I'll swap you for a CMOY- HairyMerkin

Replace cmoy with o2, or get a dac
I'm going to build a gamma1, maybe add the second part to it if I feel like it. If that doesn't sound great then I'll build a better amp. I'm using alessandro music series 1- HairyMerkin

Replace cmoy with o2, or get a dac
I built a cmoy, and I'm pretty happy with it. However the plan was always to use the cmoy as a precusor to building an o2, but now I'm wondering if I'd benefit from buying a dac that takes optical in, instead? I use a PC (Audigy 2zs)> cmoy > Ms-1i.- HairyMerkin

CMOY volume attenuation
I was using a LF353, but I swapped it to the usual burr brown op amp for cmoys. I've been using it for days now, and there are no problems what so ever. If there was a problem with the circuit, would there be any other symptoms now? edit; I should also mention that I felt the op amp just...- HairyMerkin

CMOY volume attenuation
I built my first amp today, a cmoy. Now I'm testing it with some music, and every few minutes the music goes REALLY quiet. If I turn it off and on again, it's fine. What could be the problem? I guess it might be the potentiometer? Has anyone experienced this before?- HairyMerkin
