Headphone to headset conversion - pictures and learnings
I recently completed a headphone conversion project where I wired an Antlion ModMic into a pair of AudioTechnica ath-a700x headphones. I didn't see a lot of these projects posted so I thought I'd share some of my learnings. The reason I did this is because I've broken many cheap headsets with...- Greg_R

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
I'm making a braided cable for a headset (TRRS). I have 4 strands of 28g wire. Is a particular braiding pattern recommended? There will be 3 active conductors (L/R + mic) and 1 ground. I see the two options below. Any recommendations would be appreciated! ...- Greg_R

TRRS 3.5mm mini cables?
Are there any 4-pole 3.5mm mini cables available commercially? This is a typical stereo mini cable but with the extra conductor for a microphone. I'm looking for a male-to-male cable with good flexibility & a braided cover. If an option doesn't exist then I plan to DIY. This will be for a...- Greg_R

Ultimate DIY: the 3.5mm 1/8" mini jack plug collection thread
Has anyone found a good source for TRRS mini jacks? This is like a 3.5mm stereo jack but with an extra ring (for microphone). I've found a few plug sources but very few socket sources. Additionally, the quality level is unclear (will the tabs break, how is the strain relief, etc.). I'm...- Greg_R

Headset recommendation for a large head
My laptop's combo port had previously not played well with Lync. Either way, it's a <$10 USB soundcard or <$5 cable to convert 3.5mm headphone & mic plugs. Native USB support is NOT required, thanks!- Greg_R

Headset recommendation for a large head
I'm fine with that level of sound quality. Would they fit a large head and are they durable? I've had a lot of these "plastic around metal band" style adjustments break on me... especially when the cups are fully extended.- Greg_R

Amp started buzzing - cap replacement?
I have a pair of active monitors that are 10 years old. Until recently, they had been working perfectly. Suddenly they both started buzzing. I've eliminated the electrical in the home or nearby interference by trying a variety of locations within the house. This particular set of monitors...- Greg_R

ER4S highs + TF-10 bass = which custom IEM
Isn't the JH13 $1100+ (i.e. 2x my budget)? Are you suggesting that I need to be @ that tier to get what I'm looking for?- Greg_R

coffee gadgets...
I have a Capresso CoffeeTeam TS10 (465 version) and want to warn people away in case they were considering the unit. Pros: - conical burr grinder - 10 cup brewer - Brew cycle works well (good water temps when I tested it) - Less counter space than a burr grinder + brewer ...- Greg_R
