Is there a before / after review or section of a thread anywhere on the copper mass loading mod? I'm wondering how different they sound with the copper. I like how mine sound but I'm vain and the copper aesthetically appeals to me. lol.

When I put the square edged foam pads on my MP and LP, the MP was really bassy and clouded out the mids. I was preferring to use the LP at that point which is the weaker bass and I thought they sounded really good. However on a whim I bought some brand new AKG pads from Thomann and wowzers...

This echoes what I remember too. I listened to the crack much more when it was minus speedball and I'm not so inclined to use it since. Its just lost that "something" that was making drawing me to listen to much more music than usual. I've been umming and ahhing about reversing the speedball...

The 2 on the sides are cable tie bases epoxied to the back of the top plate The one over the transformer I made a stand bending a metal strip and securing it under the transformer bolts so it continues the grounding.

My Sextetts (MP & LP) sound great through my 1975 Trio KR-3600 and thats 22Wpc. Also sound great through my BH crack. I find they most suit rock music without too much layering and overdubs. 70s rock sounds great through them.

I have the same TKD as Beefy and skeptic. It really is super smooth to turn as well.

After reading around a bit over the past year or more I wondered whether my green wiring from transformer to octal socket to noval socket was twisted tightly enough. I see some very tight twists on photos so that is one job I intend to do (have been intending to do this for over a year. lol)...

Do you mean the paint? Rustoleum Mode spray. Says it is an ultra gloss finish like you get on old fashioned (or modern trendy retro) enamel ovens/fridges. I layered mine quite thick and left it for a couple of weeks to set. It came out very slightly rippled like 25% of the Hammerite effect...

I never noticed this before but looking at my MP and LP you are correct.

So the question is which do you prefer? The speedball or non speedball? And are you saying you are using the 6SN7 in the non speedball?
