Brian checking it out now mate.  I should clarify that I'm looking for repackaging them rather than converting them to maintain as much fidelity as possible. And the file is already extracted from mp4 video in AAC .

Reaper and Ableton don't seem to be able to work with mpeg 4 clips. What is the best way of converting or repacking these files for work?

wiggling the cable doesn't phase it. I just gave it an exaggerated shake down, even the unit.   I'll message focusrite, and from there by there recommendations figure out if its hardware or driver related.

I have sens 598. They are really wide for headphones, you can get a pair for 100 bucks. IMO buy a sub 200 pair or just go in for the 600-1000$ range. Not a ton of difference between low to mid grade except subjective personalities.
