Quote:   It's in the cable mini.  Have no idea if it's been there forever, or caused by something since I've had it.  I never noticed it before because it's very small, and has caused no issue in either of the amps in which it's been previously (RSA Tomahawk, then Shadow).  I'm still...

So, crisis out of the way, on to first impressions...particularly since I have not seen any comparison yet with the RSA Shadow, which I would have thought is the most similar competing product to the Pico Slim.   Minor Issues:  Pico Slim does not pick up the faint iPod hard drive spin-up...

To pile on about the importance of good mini-plug connectors with this amp:  In checking out my new Slim, I found the right channel to be dropping when I rotated the LOD plug in the jack.  Horrors--it's an ALO Cryo Dock that has worked great on an RSA Tomahawk and Shadow, so problem has to be...

I would not worry yet cirdec... that was my notification date too, and I live in Virginia just up the interstate from Justin...so Singapore will likely be a few more days

    NEW CABLE DESIGN COMING SOON!

Copper core silver wire then? I hope there will be a true low-profile LOD option (cable exits short LOD at 90 degrees), still looking for one of those in the commercial market

Shadow jacks are a lot tighter fit than my Tomahawk. But I don't remember what the TH was like new.

Day 4 impressions/experience. I caveat all below with two notes. First, while I do use lossless files and have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, my stock iPod 5.5G and 48-year-old, ex-military-pilot ears create both source and receptor limitations. Second, I only have a few hours on the amp...

    ALO Rx Amp Impressions?

Thank you for posting the impressions, NewMexiCat. I've been wondering what the Rx is like and why it's lacked the hype of the Pico and Shadow, appreciate you starting this thread. Ricey, I see you have a Shadow on the way...it would be very interesting to get your comparison of that amp with...

Ray, forgive me if you've addressed this before, I have not seen it: Is the recommended burn-in period similar to that of the Mustang @ 100 hours, or more like the Tomahawk @ 400? Or something else entirely? Thanks

    HeadAmp Pico Slim Portable Amplifier

The DAC in the iPod 5.5G is reputed to be very good (it must be, as the 5.5G is one of the few models that Red Wine Audio chooses to iMod). This may be why you're pretty happy with your iPod headphone out as compared to your computer's direct output (which likely uses an inferior DAC). In...

    Emmeline "The Shadow"

OK, I understand. I'm looking for a solution to strap amp to back of iPod and drop it in a pocket with amp front panel facing up, without the combo resting on 2" of LOD connector and cable loop. I.e. a LOD connector that protrudes only about 1/2" and whose cable exits from the bottom or side...
