The discovery thread!
I decided if they could survive a song from my Magni at maximum volume then I'd keep them. In their defence they did make it about half way through which was really quite impressive but they gave out in the end.- fihidelity

I don't mind being patient with them and I don't particularly need any IEMs as I have plenty of others knocking around but in your description in the first post you said you were wowed by them right off the bat. I think the sound's just not for me unfortunately.- fihidelity

I'd go for glass or aluminium as opposed to acrylic as that could look a little cheap. Perhaps you should buy the evil one off him for your second rig when you get the HE-6? (and bring it to the October meet!)- fihidelity

Can anyone tell me what sort of power the Corda Classic would put into the HE-500s and how that compares to the other amps people are using with them?- fihidelity

A Magni for the time being but I'm thinking of upgrading, perhaps to an Ember or something SS like Meier or Burson.- fihidelity

Cheers chaps, luckily the pleathers are more comfortable too in my opinion (though the velours didn't get much chance to shape to my ear). Just tried removing the foam ring, I probably will get around to modding them or perhaps if modular makes another batch I'll take advantage of...- fihidelity

I switched to the velour pads last night (very stressful) in the hope it would lessen the sibilance but so far if anything it's just aggravated it. Does the treble mellow out a bit with burn in as I've only had about twenty hours with them so far?- fihidelity

Given the choice, who'd have the Lyr and who'd have the Ember assuming price, looks, etc. weren't a factor?- fihidelity

Sorry to call you out on this but I checked the DV website as an amp upgrade is next on my buy list and it doesn't specify into what impedance it outputs 2W. So it doesn't necessarily mean it has 2 watts of usable power, I'm not saying it isn't powerful but it's probably a bit of deceptive...- fihidelity

A7X have been a favourite metal band of mine for a while now but I've not heard much of their stuff since the original drummer died, Rev something IIRC. A pity as he actually wrote a lot of the songs (turns out not all drummers are airheads).- fihidelity

I really like Beyers but the DT770s used to leave my ears a little sweaty, perhaps the open T90s would keep a bit cooler. Would you consider them a true upgrade or more of a sidegrade? It sounds like the T90s are a little brighter and less intimate but good otherwise, I imagine they'd perform...- fihidelity

Quote: Any idea how long the extended lead is? I was using my Magni with a pair of DT770s which come with a three metre cable as stock, with that I was literally able to tune into a radio station!- fihidelity
