Grado sr80i's, whether or not to RMA?
I have had my sr80i's for close to a year now, coming up within about a week or two. However, when there are low bass notes, I hear some vibration from the drivers. This only occurs at volume levels that I don't often listen to or on odd combinations of bass, but I do notice it occasionally. The...- feteru

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
I am looking to upgrade from my sr80i's, and I heard these were similar to Grado's, just with more bass, better soundstage, as well as better sound all around. The question is, can I run them off of an iPod 5.5G with a FiiO E11, or will I need to upgrade my amp as well? The decision has mainly...- feteru

DT990 600 ohm vs. HE-400
Quote: Quote: Thanks so much for the good info, just got back from vacation, so I didn't have time to respond. Now it's a toss-up between the sr325i, which someone on /g/ recommended, or the HE-400. Off to make a new thread/post in the HE-400 owner's thread.- feteru

DT990 600 ohm vs. HE-400
I am looking at making a major upgrade soon, and my source will be FLAC off of a Rockboxed iPod 5.5g. I am coming from sr80i's, and I like the sound signature, I've had them for almost a year, and they work awesomely for what I listen to. However, I have money burning a hole in my pocket, and I...- feteru

Largest hard drive compatible with slim iPod Video 5.5G?

Samsung Galaxy S3... wow.
Quote: Oh well. It's not that big of a deal for me, as I have no qualms with carrying an iPod 5.5g + Fiio E11 (soon to be upgraded), along with some IEM's and headphones. Sucks though, as I was hoping for the S3 to be great all around, but I will only be using it for Youtube videos, so it's...- feteru

Samsung Galaxy S3... wow.
Is there a huge difference in SQ between the international and US variants? Obviously the Wolfson DAC makes a difference, but I am wondering if the other one is not very good. The US sort of got shafted on this phone with dual core, and now no Wolfson :P. At least we have LTE.- feteru

Largest hard drive compatible with slim iPod Video 5.5G?
The HDD on my 5.5g iPod recently died, so instead of paying an exorbitant amount to Apple, I want to go the DIY route. The Apricorn link 404'ed, and I was wondering what drives there are for the 5.5g 80gb iPod? Sorry for such a necro-bump, but this thread seemed to be the one to bump. ...- feteru

Portable headphones under $100
I have a friend whose terrible phillips earclip headphones broke, so now he is looking for a replacement. He came to me (good choice), and told me he wanted to get new ones for preferably under $100, and they need to be tough. I am presuming that they would be preferably supra-aural, closed, and...- feteru

iPod 4G vs. 5G vs. 5.5G
Quote: Even though the 5.5G is the thick 80GB one, does it still need the special lod? I really don't want to spend $200 on a cable. Also, my current ipod 4G is not the photo, so the screen is sorta abominable, which I would like to change...chances are, I wouldn't iMod it, as I would...- feteru

iPod 4G vs. 5G vs. 5.5G
I currently have an iPod 4G 20GB which I am borrowing from a friend, who was not using it. I would like to get one for myself, as I feel bad using theirs, and I also would like a color screen. I could get the iPod 5G with 30GB of space for $60 online, or I could get the iPod 5.5G with 80GB of...- feteru
