Have you tried trying the lower upsampling rates? I found the second from the top was really good.

Well, all I know is, I sold my PSA Directstream Dac sooner than any other dac I've owned. Not that it was offensive, but it just didn't do it for me.

Just bought the Hd485's myself. I agree with others that they are bass heavy. This may not be a bad thing for some. If you can EQ down the bass, it'll save power for the mids and top end as bass is always the most power hungry of the spectrum.

This can is bigger in style than one would expect from a Sennheisser. A bit oaky with some heat on the nose and palate, somewhat in the style of a California AKG. A clear and deep golden-yellow tone. The nose is full with stone fruit, pineapple, and oaky aromas. Medium to full bodied, and dry...

But! As long as we are at it. I am interested in IEM's that work well without amping (just straight out of my DAP, that sounds as good as an HD580, or at least an HD535). Any suggestions. $200-250 range. Likes Rock, Jazz, real hi-fidelity esoteric stuff,
