Hi ojkid, Always go with balanced if possible. Only downfall is you want to use the cable with multiple audio sources and only one is that type of balanced connector.

What volume are you listening to at the low level? I have excellent hearing and even found at the medium setting, I wasn't getting the drive I felt I should be.

Hi, I use Noble k10 CIEMs with them.  I have it on the high amp setting and listen to the volume around 37-40 (out of 60).  I can tell you the iphone 6 has nothing on this.  not even close.  I will be posting a review soon...

I've owned the intruder and now own the Lightning (both with a 2nd gen. iPod nano). Both sounded pretty much the same to me. I wish I could listen to these before buying but no one sells these things around the Boston, MA area so I'm fully dependent on forum feedback.
