Try opening settings on your pc for sound playback devices, and choose your dac, then go to properties and play around with the quality in that menu, bit rate and stuff, go to the highest your dac will support, I had the same thing so I checked it out and windows had the lowest quality option...

So to be clear, the m-stage i ordered last night has  (Output Power: 200 mW/300 Ohms, 400 mW/60 Ohms) So I dont say something stupid, I will ask first. What will this do for the AKG Q701? And also do you believe the m-stage is good for the DT990/600ohm? I dont know the 990's  mW/db equation...

That is the setup im going for, I will purchase the Q701's soon and also the m-stage is on its way. im looking at the DAC part of the equation now and am finding a few good reviews on the HRT II. I own the beyer DT990/600 ohm  and the Ibasso D2 amp/dac, useless for the 990's but good for tons...
