How Do I Add Remote Volume Control to a System?
Thanks for the response. I happen to have a Ragnarok; just an earlier version without a remote. My understanding is adding another preamp (Saga/Freya) could overload my system.- Distroyed

How Do I Add Remote Volume Control to a System?
I'm trying to figure out how to control the volume on my speaker system where at least one source (TV) has no control over volume being outputted via toslink to a cheap Schiit DAC without any volume control, and then to a nice Schiit amp that I love but has only a nob on the unit to control...- Distroyed

Portable Speaker Recommendations (e.g., Dynaudio Music series)
Figured some folks here might like to travel and take decent, portable speakers with them. Does anyone have recommendations for self-powered speakers that are easy to throw in a trunk and under $1k? Something like the Dynaudio Music 5?- Distroyed

Soundcard for Marantz SR receiver?
Hi, all. I just ordered a Marantz SR5007 (http://www.amazon.com/Marantz-SR5007-Home-Theater-Receiver/dp/B0081N9180/) which I will be using to power some decent speakers and probably my Sennheiser HD580's as well (presuming Marantz still makes good built-in headphone amps). My goal is to use my...- Distroyed

How to Live Cheaply in Seattle for a Summer
So I've got a summer job in Bothell for the summer as a legal intern (second year of law school), but I can't for the life of me find affordable housing in the Seattle area. Do any locals know of a way to find cheap (preferably in a safe neigborhood) housing for a few months?- Distroyed

New Electric Razor recommendation?
Hey folks. I'm in need of a new electric razor for travelling. I'm not looking for anything special, and would like to keep it at or under $50. The only necessary requisite is a comfortable shave. Batteries without memory would be nice as well. Recommendations?- Distroyed

Senn HD580 Stock Cable = Lowest Quality Ever
That's an interesting possibility, but not the case here. By bending the affected part of the cable I can reestablish the sound temporarily. Moreover, when I switch the R/L cables, I get sound out of the good cable side and not the bad no matter the ear. I will say that in all 3 instances the...- Distroyed

Senn HD580 Stock Cable = Lowest Quality Ever
I can't get over the fact that my stock HD580 cables have now shorted on me 3 times. 2 cables, 3 shorts. One of the channels just dies at a certain point in the cable, which one can usually get around by cutting the bad portion out and resoldering, but who wants a soldered cable with tape...- Distroyed

Hotrodding the X-Fi: A Layman's Guide (No 56k)
So I finally got around to doing mine. The only soldering that I've ever done was to reconnect a headphone wire that was shorted (the hd580 wires are cheap as hell). That being said, the walkthroughs found here and elsewhere allowed me to competently perform the swap in less than 30min. Indeed...- Distroyed

Affordable but decent hotel in/near Seattle??
I'll be renting a car and wont mind staying in a suburb. My goal is to scout Seattle out to determine if it's a place I want to move once I finish law school. So I'll be checking out areas to see what the true cost of living is and hopefully visiting a firm or two if I can get a hold of some...- Distroyed
