    Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone

I don't know all the details, but Todd the Vinyl Junkie has an HE-1000 loaner program.  You can read more here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/773166/ttvjaudio-new-headphone-loaner-programs  If you are serious about getting one, this may give the opportunity to have some serious time to make the...

Neither.  They are soft leather (pleather?) on the inside and outside edges.  The foam inside is quite soft.  The portion in contact with your face is velour.  The pads are large because of the size of the ear cups but some, myself included, feel they could be a bit deeper.  However, even for...

I don't think this is true whatsoever.  To most questions, a scientist will give the most honest answer there is, "We don't know."  And when it comes to all this kind of stuff, e.g. perception of sound, science has very little mapped out.  My brother works in a lab testing visual perception in...

My HE1K arrived last week.  I have been listening through my Geek Pulse X Infinity (powered through an LPS4) and this thing is stunning.  I currently have an HD800 and LCD2.2 to compare with my new HE-1000.  (I have some other stuff, but nothing else worth mentioning.)  I mostly listen to rock...

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics

I have to say that I'm not really in love pictures of the new chassis.  However, I wasn't expecting much from the old chassis, but when it arrived, I was really struck by how much better it looks in person.  So I urge people to reserve judgment.  Although, I have to say that I think the Vi DAC...

Is that an exact figure? Is that metric or imperial treble splashiness?

I run my Infinity off the LPS4 24/7. It sounds great. Yes, it gets quite warm but I don't think it is something to worry about.

Applied Science: Electron micrograph video of stylus in vinyl

I hope this hasn't be posted before --forgive me if this is the case.  For any of you science geeks like myself, this video will pique your interest.  This guy has a FANTASTIC YouTube channel.  But in the following video, he has used an electron microscope to make a video of a stylus moving...

Just because nobody makes a 32-bit r2r dac doesn't mean it is not possible. As far as I understand it, there are no technical limitations to making 32-bit ladder.

Why would you only be able to go up to 21-bit? Can't you just make the ladder as long as you want?

Would you mind hooking up a car battery to your HE-1000 and LCD-3?  I want to know which driver bursts into flames first.  Don't bother with the T1; we all know how badly the T1 handles car batteries.

For anyone who hates the LEDs on the LPS4, electrical tape works wonders.  It is completely invisible except under direct light and close inspection.  I recommend trying it.  It makes the Infinity/LPS4 stack look much better.
