Beyerdynamic T90 Discussion and Support Thread
I bought a set of used T90 a while ago. I run it from a Audio GD R2R 11 connected to my Squezebox. I wanted to say that I almost passed on this wonderful headphone because of this review. In my opinion there is two explainations for this review. Either The guy had a faulty set or he does not...- Burkebang

Recommendations for high-end DAC with no volume control
If you want the best components, this is it: http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/R8/R8EN.htm Or save some money if you do not need balanced output: http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/R2R2/R2R2EN.htm I think a R2R ladder DAC will suit your tube amp much better than a delta sigma DAC.- Burkebang

Audio-gd R2R 11
When connecting to a power amplifier, use variable and high gain. When connecting to an integrated or preamplifier, use fixed and high gain. Normal line level is 2,5 volt- Burkebang

Audio-gd R2R 11
It's a luxury problem indeed :) After a bit of A-B ing, it's clear that the R2R 11 is the superior unit. It has me conducting involuntary with both hands and tapping the beat with my feet. It's much more "musical". While the NFB-15 sounds great, the R2R sounds much more realistic. When I close...- Burkebang

Audio-gd R2R 11
I just tested the T90 with my old NFB-15, thinking the sound would be sibilant and very tireing... It was not at all so, the NFB-15 is a great match for the T90. I almost feel like a WM8741 DAC could have been used in the creation of this headphone, everything sounds JUST right and wonderful...- Burkebang

Audio-gd R2R 11
Yes, the K340 sounds wonderful with the R2R 11. I have the normal version, and the bass from acoustic instruments now sounds very realistic. What struck me most is how much better the stereo imaging is. This was rather poor with the NFB-15. This is probably mostly caused by the headphones, but a...- Burkebang

Audio-gd R2R 11
I have been pretty happy with my AKG K340 and K550 MkIIs for a few years now. I have been driving them with a latest version Audio GD NFB-15 and I thought it worked well. I just got a REALLY good deal on a slightly used 2019 version on the Audio GD R2R 11. I was not in the market for a new...- Burkebang

Advice needed: Beyerdynamic T90 or Hifiman HE4XX
I am upgrading my system, now I have AKGs, the old K340 and a newer K550 MkII. I will buy used this time. For the same money I can get either a T90 or a HE4XX. Which one would you choose? I'm also open for other suggestions. I'm looking for cans that is clearly better than my old sets, moving up...- Burkebang

akg k550, sennheiser hd558 or hd598?
Psychological burn in is a real factor when speaking of slight and barely audible changes. My experience with the K550 MkII can be described like the Turbolag on my old Saab 900 Turbo. Nothing much happens for a long while, then WHAMMO ;-) Nothing psychological about that, even my old mother...- Burkebang

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
Could it be that the K550 MkII and K553 pro is the same only branded different for different markets? The K553 pro is not available in Europe and to my knowledge the K550 MkII is not available in the US.- Burkebang

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
Audeze is well beyond what I'm willing to spend on headfi. I have recently heard the HIFIMAN HE-400i, which is the absolute max of what would spend. I really liked the planar magnetic sound. There was something very right about the bass and the mids has a bit more weight to it compared to the...- Burkebang

akg k550, sennheiser hd558 or hd598?
I have shared my impressions of the K550 MkII and the burn in in this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/613707/the-akg-k550-impressions-and-discussion-thread/2160#post_12320600 I cannot speak for the old K550 or the K553, but there is no doubt that the burn in is real on the K550 MkII. I...- Burkebang

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!
I got my K550 MkII for ~£100 in a new years sale. My first impressions was not that great. Laid back thin mids was my main concern. The sound was a bit clinical, not engaging at all. Vocals sounded far away. I liked them for classical music, opera and orchestra works, not much else. I was in for...- Burkebang

akg k550, sennheiser hd558 or hd598?
I have A-B tested my K550 MkII with the HD598. My impression is that the K550 MkII is in a completely different league. I find it much better in every way. Compared the HD598 is blurred, colored and grainy. If you do not like blurred sound, the K550 is definatly the way to go and make sure you...- Burkebang
