I didn't know how bad the stock tips were until I tried hybrid tips. However, there was no distortion even with the stock tips.

Well, I'm pretty sure the list of impressed people will grow as Amazon shipments are arriving at doorsteps... Really, these are $300+ worth high end phones. And of course, ff mod is the savior for a lot of people (including me).

Personally I noticed initially that some songs the vocal seems to be muffled, or really distant, mostly ones from "not a good source". But that was for the first few days. Now I don't really have the problem... I am not sure if it was due to BA "burn-in" or my ears adjusting to the signature.

It definitely was flip-flop mod that made these stay in my ears. After 5 days listening only to TF's, they really have grown on me. Initially that rather recessed mids bothered me a bit but now I think I'm used to it. Thought about EQ'ing but I don't see the point any more. Oh the treble...

Replacement cord does come with a mic. I have one.

TF's probably can't beat Atrios for bass. Still my favorite bassy phones (if only they fit my ears...).

Best cheap IEM would be probably Apple in-ears you find $30-40 off eBay. They provide good bass but not particularly bassy phones, though. But they do sound great for the price.
