I have the Modi feeding an A2 and like the combo well enough.  I find the Modi to be a step up from the line out on my iMac feeding the A2.   I will eventually replace the Modi with another DAC to take advantage of the integer direct mode in Audirvana.  For now, the Modi will do. 

Hi Scott,   I use either my Beyer DT250 80 ohm or DT880 250 ohm with the A2, depending on how much noise isolation I need.  I prefer the DT880 headphones with the A2, unless I want serious bass for electronica or dubstep.

Thanks for the feedback.  Since an iMac has the possibility of optical out, it seems I have a possible upgrade path.  I'm very happy with the Modi compared to my dated Total Bithead.

I've had no problems traveling nationaly or internationally with a Headroom Total Bit Head and the various cables. It has been pulled out for inspection a few times, but nothing more serious than powering on the component. TSA folks are getting better at identifying common consumer equipment...

I personally like my Beyer DT250-80 with my Iriver. They work well enough without an amp and sound even better with one.

I recently picked up a Total Bithead and I haven't found any variation in sound quality between the various usb cables at my office ranging in length from 6 inches to 3 ft. HTH
