What audiophile program for a Linux build?

If you like the opensource LMS (Logitech Media Service) ecosystem, piCorePlayer and DietPi are good choices. Hardware wise, it runs on a raspberry PI ($35). combined with a good pi HAT, they sounds stunning for less than $200.

The WickedSchiit Meet Impressions Nov, 18th 2018

One of the best audio meets I've had in the New England area. Many thanks @gc335. Got a chance to hear the soekris 1541 DAC, very impressive. Regarding to the headphones, I am generally a speaker guy. I felt that the Audeze phones provide a sense of ambience that is very close to what I hear...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@rlow LOL. I understand. But the current productions of Saga and Freya both have had a short latency when switch inputs. I am fine with 5-second-holding idea, but double-click won't be terrible. The program would set a duration - any duration of 2-clicks longer than the threshold, say 0.5...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@Jason Stoddard. I truly like the idea of remembering the volume set of each channel - it will work as a HT-bypass for me. But the real killer function to add is the backward switching of inputs. Other than holding 40 seconds (or 4 seconds), I was thinking, how about double click for backward...

XMOS XU208 USB BRIDGES - THE LATEST GEN HAS ARRIVED!

Hi rb2013,   I don't have those yet, and I use cheap USB cables - straightwire USB or Belkin Gold (now very cheap on amazon).   My thought was: "OK, the usb is bad, the computer is noisy. I would then use a 5 watt single board linux computer, feeding with a clean LPS, then I've cut the dirty...

XMOS XU208 USB BRIDGES - THE LATEST GEN HAS ARRIVED!

Thanks for the nice word.  sbgk, those "even my wife liked it" thing did work on forums, didn't it? LOL .   I contacted the designer. He said that de-soldering the DC-DC converter is doable. He used the DC-DC converter because he wanted the board to be simply plug-and-play and lower...

XMOS XU208 USB BRIDGES - THE LATEST GEN HAS ARRIVED!

My first impression for the F-1 XMOS USB interface : 5 stars.   I got my F-1 board yesterday. The build quality is better than what I expected, better than it on the pictures. The first thing made me very happy was that it worked with my little Linux-based single board music server. Then, I am...

DDC - Digital USB interfaces - Xmos or Amanero Combo384 based - Raspberry Pi - HifiBerry DAC+ Pro - reviews, comparison, modifications and USB-Audio in general

A quick follow up. Now I believe the Melodious MX-U8 (at least the latest version 1.7) units are just not compatible with regular build Linux - I tried two units. I bought another XMOS based DDC (the Singxer F-1 XMOS USB/SPDIF board), it works with my linux smoothly. After talking to...

XMOS XU208 USB BRIDGES - THE LATEST GEN HAS ARRIVED!

Thanks rb2013. I value your rating for those converters, that is why I bought a F-1, ha ha.   I talked to the designer, Mr. Chen at singxer.com, today. He said that the firmware is written by himself/his team. He mentioned that the official (default) XMOS firmware had limited performances and...

XMOS XU208 USB BRIDGES - THE LATEST GEN HAS ARRIVED!

Would anyone do me a big favor - test if the F-1 compatible with Linux system? say, any Linux on ARM-chip based single board computer or Daphile on intel based computer? Much appreciated.

XMOS XU208 USB BRIDGES - THE LATEST GEN HAS ARRIVED!

Right. the ebay seller wsz0304 is the shenzhenaudio.com. He has an audio store in Shenzhen China, thus if you call, sometime it would be a lady speaking on the phone. I talked to him when I tried to figure out the compatibility issue for my Melodious MX-U8 with Linux. He is an accountable...
