I remember that they were almost impossible to buy already at the time. Note, I was referring to the mdr-44, not the bigger M44, which seems a very good headphones indeed :)

I remember my original mdr44 from the 90s to have very thin (and fragile and unobtainable) earpads. Today I use portapro pads on them, they seem the most similar to the originals, although I wonder if with the maybe thinner originals there was more bass in all of these little gems.

Yep, it is no more. Most reviews content is now online on Stereophile site. But: - the measurements not related to a review are not there - the complete list of measurements was not uploaded - the articles related to measurements problems and techniques were not uploaded - last wall of fame...

And, by the way, until now at least, Tyll's and Katz's contents seem all online, and I don't see rafelifestyle contents anywhere. What a pity 🙃
