I found some of the specs for my amp that I posted pics of. It is a 14 amp Extreme with Black Gate cathode capacitors. Revision B circuit. Hopefully this will help. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi all, I've really enjoyed reading this thread. I purchased an extreme with upgrades last year - just moved and receipt with details is still packed . It has a big transformer in a square shaped housing that is mounted parallel to the chassis (not like a diamond when looking down at the top)...

The Mcintosh 6500 retail price was $4000 - and briefly went up to $4500 before they retired it.

I just purchased a demo Singlepower PPX3 Extreme headphone amp. Now I can say that it far surpasses the headphone out jack on my MA6500. I have thought about what would happen if I ever had to send the amp in for repair, since there is a warranty. I think that for some things, it might be better to send it to someone else (audioclassics for example) just for the piece of mind of not having to worry about waiting forever to get it...
