Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
Did the Lawton "Tune Up" mod in these last night. Still using the stock ebony cups and Eikon pads. No EQ for these impressions. I'd say the bass is more controlled and a bit more "bouncy". The bassline in "Flashing Lights" by Kanye is a little busy and can get lost but it's holding up better...- Ad720

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
Just in case anyone else was looking at this, I went for it. Came out really well. Very easy job, under an hour and $15 in parts. My advice is to use a continuity tester to easily determine which brown wire goes to which cup. I took off the left cup, which told me which wires were left+ and...- Ad720

I have also used the DT109 in my professional life however I believe they have since been classified as a torture device by the UN.- Ad720

Thanks for the info. I'm not disputing they are made to last. I found the 880 to be a little fatiguing to listen to (again, before I owned the Dark Voice) and my understanding was the 880 was the most neutral of the line.- Ad720

Interesting. The only closed backs I own are Sony MDR7506 that I've used for work forever (I'm in the audio/video production business).- Ad720

Curious what headphones folks are using with thier DV? For me it's the 6xx. All my other headphones are low impedance (Fostex TH-X00), planar (Sundara) or Stax. Sometimes I think about getting something else to use with the dark voice. I had a set of Beyer 880 before I owned this amp and I just...- Ad720

Thanks for this. I was thinking along the same lines so to test the theory I picked up an ART DJ Pre. I know it's not one of the best out there but it measures well and was inexpensive enough for this experiment. I do think it sounds a bit better with the ART pre, mostly because I can get a few...- Ad720

Yes, back on my two channel system I was quite happy. However that is currently in storage. When I occasionally use my little bookshelf speakers I'm also not as bothered as when I listen on my headphones.- Ad720

Need some advice from the Vinyl heads here
Before I got into headphones I was quite happy but as I have upgraded my headphone system I've become more and more disappointed with the analog side of my system. I'm just not enjoying the way my records are sounding - really lacking impact and dynamics. To the point I'm not listening to my...- Ad720
