Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

New Yggdrasil - Gen 5 USB question.
... why does the Sample Rate Indicators stay in only 44.1, 1x?

iTunes does not support native automatic sample rate switching neither on Mac nor on Windows. Obsolete imho.

Tidal switches automatically as long as you are using "exclusive mode" it's accessible trough the tidal settings. If you don't have that option it might be a tidal HiFi option

Edit: quickCheck to see if it's enabled. Changing volume in tidal should not be possible and changing volume In the operating system should do nothing (until it reaches 0)

I guess it's too early to expect anyone to have done an A/B comparison of Gen5/Eitr vs Singxer SU-1?

[The following are not my words. A moderator changed my text and should have made that plain for those reading this. - winders]

It's not posted here on this forum - but there are comparisons on the net.

There are comparisons if you search for it. Try searching for "Schiit Eitr Preview Thread".
Bottom line Eitr is comparable to SU-1 for less, however if you can use I2S, SU-1 is better.

I'm getting my Gen5 upgraded Yggy back today, will post my thoughts.
What's the best way to connect SU-1 to Yggy?

Use the AES from SU-1 into Yggy

OK, I'll do that, although I don't have an AES cable, going to use an XLR Mogami 2534 based cable instead. Not sure if that will affect anything.

^ We are the wrong people to ask. Try asking Schiit about these deficiencies in their flagship product

I like this reply.

.... or try paying as much for Yggdrasil as you would pay for Chord Dave. In Australia, Yggdrasil is $3849. Chord Dave is $17,800. Both store prices. Pay and you can walk out with the dac.

I have a preamp for volume control....I don't want an Yggdrasil with a volume control. The noise floor on Yggdrasil is lower than you can hear...how low does it need to go?
