HIFIMAN SuperMini Impressions Thread

Cool. I'm sure the names suggest new DAPs. I wonder when they'll figure out how to do user interface right though... maybe they changed it???
UI is the reason why I wait for the FiiO X7 to feed my Hugo coaxial digital data. Nice UI, a touchscreen, lower than $1500, coaxial output, decent battery life (more than 8), and an okay design is all I need. :D
Cheers.

I wonder if the U models are just based on the old design.

It's a partnership between HiFiMAN and Qihoo 360, what's the relationship between audiophile products and security software?

3,999 RMB for HM802U (including POWER amp card) and 5,999 RMB for HM901U (including DISCRETE amp card) respectively.

Besides the bundled amp card, I didn't see any differences between HM901S and HM901U so far.

Yep, I don't really get that too - won't HM900u be just 'HM900s with discrete card'? Why bother with a new name then?

According to my understanding: HM901U = upgraded HM901 which has an inferior digital out and less powerful CPU when compared to HM901s.

The only reason why the hm901u has my interest is simply because of its amp board, it gives us eseentially the freedom to play around with the amp board to find the sound we like where as other DAP is matter of stacking it.

I personally love to try the minibox Gold but I like to know which amp board hifiman considers as the flagship of the group. Also according to google conversion 5999 rmb is equivalent to 1300 AUD in the current market, if that is the case the price is not too bad at all . I like to see it under 1K hence giving the user more cash to play with amp board.

My current thinking is to eventually get the final flagship dap of hifiman and eventually collect all their amp board. Based on how hifiman do their design those board should be good for the future as they tend to recycle certain part of their older design to both cut on cost and dont live the consumer bitter about their amp accessory purchases.

Thanks for the thread.

According to what I have read so far, it would seem HM901U is just the old HM901 with the new metal housing and come with the discrete card, which is why it is way cheaper than HM901s (RMB5999 vs. RMB8999). Also don't recall HM901s has a new SoC. I only read that HM901s has an improved analog section, as mentioned by Hifiman.

I asked Alvin at Hifiman
"HM901U is only available in domestic market, which is like a update of HM901. Its appearance looks like HM901s, but is made of plastic, the HD button has been removed, and the balance and normal switch has been changed to 2 separate headphone jack."

Hmmm I think that Alvin was misinformed. The 901U is definitely made of metal.

Hifiman owes me a favour, they offered to swap my 901 for 901u for a "good price" (sworn to secrecy) , but as my 901 is working fine and the U doesn't seem much of an upgrade so I have turned down their offer.

Has anyone swapped their 901 for 901 u?

700 with a normal HO is a bomb!)
This player sounds very good, despite it made on the primitive parts. Same as HSA players, but 700 is on par with Studio.
