So, after some time, has anyone compared the Shangri-La to the Sennheiser Orpheus HE-1?

Best In-Ear Monitor Recommendation for Athletes?

Hello, What are the best in-ear monitors for athletes? I'm looking to buy the best in-ear monitors for my nephew's 18th birthday. He races mountain bikes and marathons so I need something that will stand up to athletic rigor. I also want the best sounding headphones and I have a budget under...

Uh oh, long time since I've checked into this forum. What? No more headphone buying guide? What happened to Jude?

Terrible experience with Sennheiser, do NOT buy from them

If you paid with a credit card, call the credit card company and cancel the transaction.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Can you share with us your comparative thoughts? Just reading this thread it seems as if the B&W PX has too many connection problems.

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I thank all of you for your help. In the end I took a totally different direction. I inquired into the habits of my nephew. He is athletic and he races motorcycles, bicycles and races triathlons. In his down time he tinkers in the garage. Sound quality in a headphone is not his priority and he...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I am looking to get my nephew a great Christmas present. I have not heard either headphone; the PX or P7 wireless. Which has better sound quality? Thank you.

    Sunglass-Fi, The Optics Info Thread

Thank you so much for your incite. Your comments are very helpful. I've been searching all over for answers and so far yours is the best yet. Perhaps you can write a detailed review comparing the hinge designs of Mykita, ic! berlin, and Lindberg and then post your review on Amazon and other...

    Sunglass-Fi, The Optics Info Thread

Hello, I have been researching Mykita and ic! berlin glasses, specifically who has a better hinge design between these two companies. If you need tools to repair Mykita hinges isn't this overly complicated? Conversely, doesn't the simplicity of ic! berlin's hinges make them superior? I've been...

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)

I love your sober review. I live in NYC and I should go listen to them but I'm still on the fence like, nah, it's just another headphone. Well, it isn't and it is. Maybe I'm just jaded. Audio equipment never seems to jump through hoops. (Perhaps the Devialet Gold loudspeakers do, especially for...

    Cowon Plenue P1

Call me crazy but many years ago I lost my iPod and Sennheiser IE8's in a taxi cab, never to be seen again. I have not replaced my portable music system since. Day after day I ride the subway to work. Clutched in my hands is the New York Times which has been my only source of distraction from my...

Astell & Kern AK240 VS Cowon Plenue P1 - War of the flagships!

I have been trying to find a definitive thread about these two players and, what, no responses? Does anyone have both of these players for a head-to-head review?

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)

Whew. Thank you for your reassurance. Yes, there is a role in the world for plastics, for example, an artificial heart. High-End headphones? I doubt it. No matter what anyone says. Sure, there are different kinds of plastics. Sure, I hope someone proves me wrong. The Sennheiser HD800 doesn't...

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)

Touche! Well said. Of course, it is not what I meant but I did not make myself clear. My bad. Yes, there is a role for plastic, like you said, in insulation for wiring and for the diaphragms. What I meant was I would be clearly disappointed when that little black box opened up and, for $55,000...

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)

Yes, there is probably plastic in our corn flakes but, for $55,000, I hope there is not any plastic (or euphemism for plastic) in those headphones. If Sennheiser uses plastic in the HE1060, it's like trying to tell me that Rolls Royce uses plastic seat control buttons to save weight.

    Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

Love this. So true. At least Sennheiser is pulling away from cheap metallic silver spray painted plastic. At least the plastic is now black and not trying to fool anyone that it is made from metal. Also, I agree with Redcarmoose and even the video, "a little bit better".... Puuuulllleeeasse...

With so much talk about the ZX1, in absolute terms, is the sound quality better with your IEM's out of the ZX1 than the Astell & Kern AK240?

Sennheiser HD800: Spray Painted Plastic and the New Acid-Washed Jeans.

Thank you Jude for the kind comments. This has been an uphill battle for me but beautiful and functional design (no matter what discipline it is) is dear to my heart. Yes, I have seen headphone design move in a far better direction since this original posting. Funnily enough, I believe that...

Sennheiser HD800: Spray Painted Plastic and the New Acid-Washed Jeans.

Ahh, it's been more than a year since the last posting on this thread and, boy, have things changed mostly for the better. Plastic looks like plastic (Beats headphones) and metal looks like metal (B&W P7's). The reason why I used these lower priced headphones as examples is to point out that...

Reply to review by 'davidhunternyc' on item 'Astell & Kern AK120'

Thank you for your thorough reveiw. Yes, whether it's an audio-rag or Head-Fi, superlative reviews sell products and keep food on the table for those involved. Your review was thoughtful and, I'm sure, very accurate. Never buy version 1.0 of anything. What surprises me here is that the Astell &...
