You may not know even two pairs of brand new Q010 earpads purchased from Sony can have such a big colour difference. L3000G and some early batch of L3000 (S/N <70) get much less bass from my experience. So I guess most of you are referring to those heavy bass (aka normal batch) L3000.

Well, I am certainly not a bass head. Bass lover seems to love those punchy headphones like PS1000, ED9, DX1000 which are not my cup of tea. But for those who think as opposite, Q010, HE1, ED10, may suit your taste.

Don't just concentrating only on the outlook of L3000, I've heard several L3000/G (3 or 4 don't remembered), as well as some R10 & Q010, some got heavy bass and sound muddy. Not sure because of previous usage or S/N or both. If there is an opportunity I would suggest an audition before...

Phew, cost me another hour to replace my L3000G earpads, but it's worthy :) Brand new spare earpads 4->3 Thinking of swapping the old L3000 earpads into my L5000, I don't like the thick L5000 earpads (aka W5000 earpads) at all.

For $9000 to spend on hand-painted arts, its not unreasonable at all. But I'll pass this time...

Just listened to the TWag today. Whooola, can't believe that the bass is so fantasic! Very deep, great extension of bass. Superb details, full of dynamics and with super fast response! Although the cable didn't burn in yet, I already satisfied with its sound, it sounds like a burned in...

From my listening experience: Different cable material/construction sounds different, you can try a pure copper wire and a pure silver wire and hear the difference. Cable burn-in usually improves the sound coherence, but the sound signature does not change.

Well, I think the wire makes much more different to the sound than the 3.5mm plug (unless you use some crappy plug)
