    Beresford 7510 MK 6 Mini Review/comparison

Liquid - are you using the digital output of your Audigy 2ZS to feed the TC-7510? The problem is that the Audigy 2ZS resamples everything internally to 48kHz and does so using a very poor algorithm, so if you are listening to (e.g.) CD audio (44.1kHz) the 2ZS will degrade the sound a lot even on...

    I am picking up a TC-7510 MK6 after work,

Damn, Stanley just keeps improving this thing! I have a MkIII and on well-recorded music it's unbelievable. Unfortunately I've never heard anything higher-end so I can't verify those comparisons made to products like the DAC1. The problem is that on music that isn't so well-recorded (i.e...

    Beresford TC-7510 vs Zhaolu D3?

    Ipod Video 30GB + Sennheiser PX100 compatibility?

I agree with the posts above - the PX100 and iPod (Nano in my case) have great synergy. The prominent bass of the PX100 balances out the relative lack of bass of the Nano. It can't compete with my home rig (see sig) but for portable use, at work, etc., it's excellent.

    Brand new toy: MS2

I wasn't sure whether to bump this thread or start a new one. My MS2 arrived yesterday (Alessandro nicely declared the price to be $100, same as the MS1, so I got charged less tax. Thanks!) I let them burn in last night. Improvements over MS1: - Bass is tighter and goes much lower. I heard...

    Brand new toy: MS2

Just ordered a pair of MS2's. I'm very happy with the MS1's (especially with reversed pads) but I could use a little more detail. Can't wait!

    best DAC-up to 400$?

The Beresford TC-7510 MkIII is excellent. It costs about $200 US and has been compared favourably to the Zhaolu and MicroDAC. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233139 One disadvantage is it doesn't have USB, but it does have 2 optical & 2 coax inputs that can be switched between.

    Beresford TC-7510 DAC MKII

The MkIII arrived today. It's an immediate improvement over the MkII. Line output is now at acceptable volume levels, and bass is much more present but still tight and controlled. There's a bit of grain in the mids and some treble harshness, but burn-in corrected this on the MkII so I'll wait a...

    Beresford TC-7510 DAC MKII

I just ordered the MkIII, Stanley said it should ship next week. Can't wait! My MkII is excellent, but the volume and dynamic range are a little less than ideal. Hopefully the MkIII will fix this.

    230 - 240v

I can't comment on that particular product, but every piece of electronic equipment designed today is built to withstand voltage differences. This is because, even within the same country, voltages can vary by as much as 20-30v. Also note that 240v is probably the "nominal" voltage for your...

Is the Beresford TC-7510 MKIII here yet?

If it is, I'll be ordering it. I'm a little disappointed since I just got the MkII a few weeks ago, but from what I hear the MkIII is well worth the upgrade even just for the increased volume.

    Beresford TC-7510 DAC MKII

I just tried my 120-ohm attenuator on the Headfive output, and again, WOW! It's better than the TC-7510 headphone out - not by much, but it's there. Looks like the analog out just needed burn-in, after all. The midrange is back and better than ever, and the instrument separation is amazing. The...

    Beresford TC-7510 DAC MKII

I made myself an impedance adapter by putting a 120-ohm resistor in series with each channel. This completely gets rid of the hiss, and tightens up the bass as well. It doesn't go as loud as before, but that's probably good for my hearing. I also made some really short (< 6 inches) RCA...

    Beresford TC-7510 DAC MKII

I just tried the headphone-out of the TC-7510, and WOW! The midrange is just as smooth as the Digi96's analog output, but with more detail. In fact, the Digi96, which seemed awesome before, now seems "muddy" by comparison. This is likely because the Digi96 uses JRC4580 opamps on the output...

    Beresford TC-7510 DAC MKII

It's been nearly 24 hours of constant usage, and while the bass and treble are even better, the mids still aren't up to the RME Digi96. There's not enough smoothness or instrument separation, and parts that were clearly audible with the Digi96 are now hidden. I tried using a "real" digital cable...

Well, problem solved - apparently the first RCA interconnect I selected out of my huge storage box of cables was terrible quality. I switched it to a better one and the sound is excellent! It has the great mids of the RME Digi96 PST, with better bass extension/control and no treble harshness...

The unit arrived today, directly from the factory in Taiwan. I'll give it some time to see if...

    Thinking of using Ubuntu.

One thing to note when using dmix is that you have to specify the sample rate (usually 44100 for CD audio) by adding a "rate 44100" line (see below). Otherwise, dmix will resample to 48000 khz using a low-quality algorithm (much like the Windows kmixer). You may also want to add "format S32_LE"...
