Great moments in Science History: The Michelson-Morely experiment. 1. Let's measure the ether! 2. That's funny..... 5. Let's make a bigger instrument. 2. That's funny.... And you forgot one of the most important steps: 7. Indignant peers try to disprove results, get identical results. 8. The...- FrivolsListener

Anyone who wonders what it's like to work on an American government contract really needs to watch that, which gives a real flavor for it. From what I have read elsewhere, Tom Kelley was a pretty good guy to work for.- FrivolsListener

@Jason Stoddard I wanted to throw in my $0.02 on the shipping stuff. First, a set up. I live in the last mile. Really the last mile. USPS, FedEx, and UPS seem to do well. Amazon has problems, and trying to get a message to the right person at Amazon is absolutely impossible -- everything...- FrivolsListener

The purpose of vinyl is to transfer to magnetic tape or digital storage, unless you have a laser-based player. The purpose of 8 track is to prop up the corners of your amplifier to ensure good airflow. Quad 8, well, if you have to... It does have 4 discrete channels.- FrivolsListener

To try and treat the question seriously, the LP was the peak of electro-mechanical (or mechanical) recording. We don't listen to wax cylinders the same reason we don't listen to 78s (except for historical recordings). They have inferior sound quality.- FrivolsListener

True, but sometimes persistent people (or people without control of their environment) have to be dealt with. I use a Win 7 machine at work along with my main dev machine which runs Xubuntu. That Win 7 machine is required to run a single Silverlight application. My work Schiit stays on the...- FrivolsListener
