    MDR-M1ST vs MDR-7520

I’m lucky to be situated in Asia with access to buying service that allows me to get stuff from Japan at reasonable cost. Looking to get the Bispa 4.4mm cable for m1st in my upcoming japan trip, and will report back if i get it.

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP

Hi Joe, its direct on the R3 Pro. The stuttering stopped after the first 20-30 secs or so and the rest of the track played properly. Was using a Sandisk Ultra card which I wondered if it was the bottleneck. But the player otherwise was great, alot of power for something this small. I thought...

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP

Hi Joe, Its a dsd64 file of billie jean. It happens for around the first 20 sec or so and disappears. The rest of my dsd files work fine on the r3pro but this is the first time I had seen this issue with this file on players which are probably all running on pcm/dop mode. Am loving this device...

Hiby R3 Pro Portable Bluetooth DAP

Just got this in my mail. First impressions were that the vocals sound forward and soundstage somewhat narrower than my dp-s1 or dx200. Missing abit of the Sabre bite but details are good. Sound very reference in that its flat. Hiby link connection is abit quirky but works. biggest complaint is...

    MDR-M1ST vs MDR-7520

I just received a M1ST and I have also a 7520 and CD900ST. To my ears the M1ST is a happy middle ground between the CD900ST (which actually bought twice) and the 7520. The 7520 has better bass than the CD900ST but the tuning sounded rather distant which I suspect was aimed at making the 7520s...

iFi ZEN DAC discussion + impression

Got both, no contest. Alot more power to drive headphones and dynamics feel less compressed in the Zen as compared to M0. But its apples to oranges. One is a portable player and one is a dedicated DAC thats more transportable than portable. M0 only if absolute portability is needed.

iFi ZEN DAC discussion + impression

I've had this gem for a week already and held back until I've got enough time on it. For background, I have a Chord Mojo, Onkyo DP-S1 and DX200 as my portable rig. I'm pretty much a Sabre person in that I love the speed and transients. The Mojo was perfect for me as it combines the speed of...

    Light Harmonic Geek Wave

Taking a break and/or ignoring folks, especially those who paid up and backed the project, is not the way to go. As long as there are no explanation on what has been done, how far things really are and what are the time really being spent on, you cannot expect as a representative of the company...

And the shameful thing is that the company is hawking new wares and people still give them publicity https://www.headfonia.com/review-light-harmonic-stella/

    Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private

Touchscreen issues, disappointing for a player barely over one year old *(bought Jun 2017)

    Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private

Yes, I have this issue where the buttons do not trigger correctly with my XDP-30R. After awhile, lower half of screen on left side became unresponsive, not able to return to home screen during playback. :frowning2: Very disappointed, seems like screen issues quite a common issue for...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

@Shanling is that the latest status? Initially I recall the delivery date is end April, then end May and now this? This is very worrying for those of us who pre ordered.

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

I am local too, and I too pre-ordered the M0 with Jaben SG. In fact, I ordered on Day 1 of Canjam Singapore and probably one of the first in the world to pre-order. Believe me, I am as peeved as anyone that others got their order first but again its Shanling's policy which Jaben may or may not...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

@tim0chan To be fair, it was mentioned a few pages back that it was released in China before international release. The international release has been delayed to end may. Its not really of Jaben or any international distributors doing. Such allegations on their service and linking it is not...

    Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private

I also ‘upgraded’ from a dx90 to the Pioneer. The size is great, amazing how they stuffed two chips in there. Agree that the wifi is pretty weak but coming from a DAP that has none, its great to have. Firmware upgrades over the air is easy, so long as I am close to the router. Streaming works...

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Just heard the M0 at canjam using my jh13s and black dragon combo. Am happy to report that it sounds fantastic. Plenty of power and rythmn. Abit thicker (both physically and sound) than i expected but no biggie. Order immediately placed. :)

Should I upgrade my Brainwavz B2 to a JH10x3 pro?

I’m quite satisfied with the details from the jh13s, bass is a matter of preference thanks to the bass pod. But i’ve been using black dragons which to my ears improves the Low end details and overall coherence of the monitors quite a bit. For reference my desktop rig is a mojo running to Sony...

Should I upgrade my Brainwavz B2 to a JH10x3 pro?

Hi, You’re not likely to go much wrong with the 10x3 or 13s to be honest. If they are your first customs then you’d be quite happy. Not heard the 10x3 but I have the jh5 and 13v2 pro. The 13s are not what I would characterise as bright, more like flat. They require some power to really sound...

The Official Sony MDR-Z1R Flagship Headphone Thread (Live From IFA 2016)

I see the bright side of Tyll's review in the discussion it generated. Really got people talking which is good. While the comparison to M50s are somewhat outrageous, it could have been in reference to the low end fullness which I have also heard in the M50s. I've heard the Z1Rs at a Sony store...

    Sony MDR-7520

New owner of a very lightly used second hand 7520 reporting in. I have a CD900ST and I was pleasantly surprised with the sound of the 7520s. The CD900s have the mids like voices more center and forward, more enclosed and more in your face. The 7520s are on the other hand more hi-fi, like a good...

Do customs offer ultimate comfort, isolation or both?

Yes and yes, especially if you have odd sized ears. Before going custom, I have used different sized tips because of a previous jaw injury. But I have never managed a good seal. With customs, the seal and comfort is much better. Less annoying imbalances. However, do note the points raised by...

AAW Capri Balanced Lightning Audio Cable, with Type-C variant

Backer #1050    Can't wait to get this, really missed the jack on my iPhone 7. The included 3.5mm adapter really isn't the most elegant solution.

    REVIEW: Jomo Audio 4

Thanks for the review, appreciate it. I think we will see more Jomo Audio reviews as time goes by and more get to listen to their IEMs.   I just received the Jomo 4 myself (though its now undergoing minor adjustments for fit), and I too found that cable makes a significant difference. The...

Sony MDR-CD900ST, why don't these get more love?

Yup, just received the Yaxi pads myself and they are awesome in terms of comfort. The originals were too thin and the housing pins my ears back hard. These had more space without compromising on the tonality of the headphones. If anything, I did notice a slight widening of the soundstage.
