What are your main portable phones?
PK-1s. For portable use I have found I really like buds the best. I use them un-amped which I know a lot of people frown on with the PK-1s but I am quite happy with them and think they sound great even without an amp. One less thing to carry and since I use my iPhone I don't have to carry a...- Toonie

Paen to Edition 9's
Still loving the Edition 9s here too. I've gone through a ton of headphones and enjoy buying/selling/trading to try out new stuff but that's slowed down quite a bit since the Edition 9s got here. I'm still waiting on my GS-X from Justin so I haven't had them balanced yet but have been...- Toonie

Grado: Can anyone compare the HF-1 to the HP-2?
IMHO absolutely! Though I guess it really depends on how much you have to spend for the HP-2. They seem to be going for some silly prices recently, though I've seen some relatively good deals too. It really depends on how badly you want them and if the price justifies itself to you. I would...- Toonie

Second Part of the GS-1000 review is up
Great Part II Zanth! Glad things settled down for you enough that you were able to finally get around to it. I'm currently Grado-less though and this doesn't help me at all. Reading this is really making me miss my Grados. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to justify owning all of my past...- Toonie

Went and Done it...Pulled Trigger on Edition 9's
Congrats on the Ed. 9s. Seem to be a love 'em or hate 'em thing. Personally, I love them. While I've found they improve nicely with a good amp, I've also been content driving them with a Tomahawk and Supermacro. YMMV. Anyway, sit back and enjoy and let your ears be the judge.- Toonie

GS-X Ordered, Need Balanced Game Plan
Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll be selling the Saturn then. My main reason for wanting to hold on to it was for those times that I use single ended headphones since I don't plan on balancing all of them. Guess now I just need to find a phono stage with balanced outs. I'm still not...- Toonie

a few questions about handling rega (p3-24) turntables (not specific to this model)
1) I take the cover completely off when using. I would have to do that anyway since the shelf I have the turntable on doesn't have enough headroom. 2) I read that in the manual as well so I leave it on and do just as you described, taking the record off by grabbing the outer edges and gently...- Toonie

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured, just not what I was hoping to hear. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts ASR. Guess I'll have to start looking for a replacement for the Saturn then.- Toonie

GS-X Ordered, Need Balanced Game Plan
I recently ordered a GS-X from Justin and am trying to figure out the best way to get my set up balanced, preferably using my current sources. Price is a factor. Right now my two main sources are a Rega Saturn and Rega P5 turntable. First, as far as the P5 is concerned, I'm pretty sure I've...- Toonie

IEM/Canalphone with the largest soundstage
I haven't heard the triple fi 10s but the Super.fi 3s and 5s both have the most sound stage I have heard out of any of the IEMs I have owned which included e500s, im716s, and UM2s.- Toonie

Headamp: Should I be concerned yet?
x2 on the not to worry. I actually had ordered a KGSS from him a ways back and while waiting ended up selling all my stats to focus more on my dynamic rig. Anyway, Justin let me know last week that the amp was nearing completion and would be shipping out. Seeing as I don't have any...- Toonie

Ultrasone Edition 9 Owners' Amp Registry
I'm no longer using the RPX-33 with mine. I just did a swap for a GS-1. I have to say that initially I didn't think the Ed 9s were all that amp dependent. However, that changed after shipping the RPX-33 out. While waiting for the GS-1 I used a Rudistor NKK-01 I just received and the...- Toonie
