Samsung Galaxy S 4
I normally used a ipod 7th gen 160 for music listening. However recently I have gotten the S4 (9505) and I am very much impressed with the sound of it. I didn't directly compare the ipod and s4, but I generally feel that the sound of the S4 is smoother and with much better (lower) bass. I use...- StevenBrouwer

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
I recently bought a simple LOD for my rockbox 7th gen ipod. And the sq seems to be much better when paired with my stereo receiver compared to the headphone out. I was sceptical about this before... However I thoughed that I still would be able to change the (digital) volume with the...- StevenBrouwer

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
Larsie, thank you for your post. My ipod is now on the build of 20120926. Unfortunately the ipod is still not recognized on my pc without itunes. On my pc with itunes there are no problems. Although I don't think itunes necessary makes the difference, both pcs are on win7 64 bit. ...- StevenBrouwer

Ipod classic - rockbox - its happening.
Quote: Same issue here. Both on a pc with itunes and another pc without itunes. Hope for a fix soon! Edit: I managed to get an older version on my ipod. The problem is now partly gone: This only worked on the pc with iTunes installed. First boot the...- StevenBrouwer

A DAP Philosophy Perspective
I agree with the OP one hunderd percent. My sennheiser hd 25-II's sound terrible (cold) on a stock ipod classic. However with rockbox EQ settings, giving the lower bass some extra volume and lowering the volume between the 8k-9k frequencies, the sennheiser sounds fantastic. And the EQ made all...- StevenBrouwer

Best Sounding Tablet?
I agree with the previous posts about the playbook. I have got one aswell and also think the sound is really nice. I like it more than my ipod classic 7th gen. Also I don't see why it would be a bad buy. I like it a lot, and if you are just a little handy with computers, you can get most...- StevenBrouwer

HD 25-1 ii Originals "Adidas" Like, Love, or Hate?
What do you guys think of the white velour pads? Are they good looking or more awkward... I'd really like to know because I tried the blue pleathers in the store and found the hd 25 adidas to be really good looking and definitely worth the premium price over black. However I want to...- StevenBrouwer

Should I buy Audio Technica ES10?
Thank you for your posts, critique is more than welcome. I am actually getting big doubts about the es10's, mainly because of the isolation indeed. However I am sure I really don't like the looks of the HD25-1's, so I won't go back to those even though they sound the best for the money. ...- StevenBrouwer

Should I buy Audio Technica ES10?
Fellow Head-fiers, I have been spending some time on the head-fi forums (it had been a while..) and of course I am now determined to buy a new headphone. In this case the Audio Technics ES10. How did I end up chosing for this expensive hifi-beast? First of I "needed" a new...- StevenBrouwer

Sound cancelling headphones for subway
Quote: Well maybe I ditched them too fast, but with the long cord and odd thick shells on ear I made a quick decision to sell them. Because at that time I didn't felt comfortable in looks to put them on in the subway. However I somehow regret it not giving them a proper chance at the...- StevenBrouwer

Sound cancelling headphones for subway
I am in the same boat as the OP. Assuming you are also looking at passive noise cancelling phones. I don't like IEM's and there are no noise cancelling earbuds. For use in the metro I have tried HD25's, but you don't to be seen in public with these things on. So I sold them again...- StevenBrouwer

New Actieve Noise Cancelling Earbuds (not sealing), advice needed
Hi, My current portable set up is: iPod Classic 6.5G + Yuin Pk2 Unfortunately the Yuins are about to break down (again). So its time to get something else, since I wasn't too happy with the yuins anyway (just personal opinion). For portable music I also already have FutureSonic...- StevenBrouwer

Big dissatisfaction of YUIN earbuds
I am happy to announce that head direct allowed me now to return the out-of-warranty buds to them. That was after some more email contact, where I told about my feelings of the situation. So probably still getting a happy end!- StevenBrouwer

Big dissatisfaction of YUIN earbuds
The fact that what you are buying works for an acceptable lifespan (normally associated with the kind of product) is offcourse of relevance whether it is a good/ recommandable product or not. I don't think any forumer here would buy a great sq phone that would break down in half a year with no...- StevenBrouwer

Big dissatisfaction of YUIN earbuds
Hi, In January 2010 I bought yuin pk 2 earbuds of head-direct, which I received in February. Unfortunately the earbuds broke down beginning of July. That's a total of 5 month usage while the warranty is only 3 months! The seller head-direct won't repair the buds or replace them and I now...- StevenBrouwer

7th Gen (2009) iPod Classic 160 SQ
Quick side question: I got a 2009 classic coming in and I want a lod to composite cable for it for viewing video on any screen and use for hifi system. Apple is selling one for 45 euro, but there are also very cheap alternatives. I know that the iPhone has some sort of lock on the lod so the...- StevenBrouwer

iPod Classic: the only high capacity, non-touchscreen DAP?
Ah man, now I don't know anymore what to use with my new Yuin PK2. What should I do? 1) Fix H340 with 80gb HDD (risky) 2) Get 7th gen iPod Classic (most expensive, but safe choice) 3) Get Zune 120Gb (although I can't use most features since I live in EU)- StevenBrouwer
