I'm not sure they even made any tweaks to the drivers between both models. Could be more to do with batch variance or differences in "burn in".

They're certainly not counterfeit. The build quality and comfort live up to expectations. The Sub-Bass is there, but only if I turn the headphones up to a level where the saturation in the higher mids becomes unbearable. I would argue that it's sharp piercing highs that are most damaging to the ears, rather than head shaking bass. Because people buy headphones expected them to rumble, they turn the volume up on their headphones looking for that rumble, this leads to hearing fatigue as a result of the sharp highs...

The X1 doesn't really need the dragonfly, something like the Fiio17 would drive them with plenty of force to spare.   It doesn't take much to get the best out of the X1's.

The SR-009's are really good looking headphones, so i'll give Stax that.   I don't however have 4-5000$ to give them.   I take it some of these older model headphones are rather vintage?

Are the radiators for keeping your ears warm?

Not doubting the sound quality of Stax systems. But why are they all so horrendously ugly?

It's important to note that some SACDs are also upsampled redbook, so be weary of the scams.
