Why so many hd800 for sale if they're that good

I see a few of these for sale... but nothing like the mass selling of certain Fostex.

What kind of beverage or food enhance your listening sessions?

My favorite time to listen is in the morning. I like a little coffee with that and I'll usually add a drop of tincture CBD (yes, it's legal for me).

Closed headphones that can match my open setup for enjoyment?

I never took well to either the HD600 or HD650 dynamics or even many of the planar-magnetic options near the same price point. I preferred the DT-990 over them. I think comfort is a big issue for me and the DT-990 is one of the most comfortable phones ever. If you get the chance give a listen to...

Closed headphones that can match my open setup for enjoyment?

Yes, the leather pads isolate better. But if you want comfort go with the gray velours. You still have decent isolation. Borrow the velour pads from your DT-990 to experiment. The cable is indeed shorter on my 32 ohm pair. My DT-770 Pro 32ohm are my go-to portables. I just love them.. they sound...

Closed headphones that can match my open setup for enjoyment?

No question about it.. the DT-770 Pro or Premium are what you need- either 80 ohm or 32 ohm. A very good headphone in my opinion. I own three pair myself. :^) The Premiums are slightly more comfortable than the Pros with less clamping pressure.

Closed headphones that can match my open setup for enjoyment?

The 80 ohm and 32 ohm versions just fine. The 250 ohm versions too but you will be cranking the volume up near max on the iPad if you like to really jam out. I've used my 250 ohm DT-880 off iPad and it was fine for me. But using an amp with the iPad does bring the sound to another level with any...

Closed headphones that can match my open setup for enjoyment?

Beyerdynamic DT-150 (my favorite) or DT-770 Pro. The DT-250 is a bit too grainy in comparison with my home amps. The DT-770 are basically a closed version of the DT-990. I find the soundstage on my DT-770 Pro 32 ohms huge for a closed can. But the DT-150 is equally huge but gentler and easy to...

The Beyerdynamic DT 480 discussion thread (impressions, mods etc.)

It could be something loose in the driver but I hear no issues with sound and don't see anything move. However, when I try to dampen the sound by squeezing/stabilizing the plastic baffle with my hand it will still make the rattle when tapped. This does make me think it might be in the driver. I...

The Beyerdynamic DT 480 discussion thread (impressions, mods etc.)

Do the baffles normally rattle while they are outside and not fastened to the shells? I looked and mine are the same way so I must have them oriented correctly- One big hole facing up and the other down on the earside driver grill. Mine are the shiny black finish. They have seen some action for...

The Beyerdynamic DT 480 discussion thread (impressions, mods etc.)

I got my second pair of these in 200 ohm. I regret selling my first pair without looking into recabling. Anyway, these ones seem to sound a little better than the first pair I had after resoldering all cable connections. But this pair has an insanely weird issue in the left cup. There is a...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

I just got my pair of 250 ohm. All I can say is yum!! This is one juicy pair of headphones. And man do they ever dig deep in the bass department. I am really liking these. Possibly the best Beyer I've heard. So balanced and relaxed but very detailed. And the sound stage is bigger than any closed...

AKG K712pro or beyerdynamic DT990 pro

Get an open Audio Technica. They are much better for gaming. Massive soundstages. The Sennheiser HD800 as well. The DT 990 has a lot of bass and might bleed into detail a bit... like blurring footsteps a bit for pinpointing the enemy. They are better for listening to music frankly. I've never...

    AD900x Sizing

The rubber band... okay neoprene hair tie.. mod kept my ATH-AD700 from sliding down my head. It also relieved the clamping on the jaw and the non seal at the top of the pad. Even better so would be vertically angled pads- wider at the top in combination with the hair tie mod on the wings. As you...

    Open headphones for treble head?

I like the phrase myself as well. :^) With the right amplification and source material, the T70 really shine. But there seems to be an over present hump in the midrange somewhere. It can cause fatigue pretty quickly without the right synergy.

    Open headphones for treble head?

The AD700 really remind me most of my T70 but with a wider soundstage. So the T90 may be the ticket if the balance is anything like the T70. Meaning leaner on bass and more articulate mids and extended treble. The T70 is a weird creature. It can sound really good with the right type of music/...

    Open headphones for treble head?

Good luck! Nothing sounds like the ATH-AD700. Especially for the money. DT990 doesn't have the clarity in the mids or size of soundstage of the AD700. It sounds way more congested. But the DT880 sounds closer to it just not as big or wide a soundstage and slightly more bass. I've heard several...

    Most Neutral Headphones?

I found a cheap headphone that to my ears sounds reasonable flat. The Audio Technica ATH-M40fs. I bought two pair from a studio liquidating all it's gear. So, I'm not the only one who thought they were neutral sounding.

    Sony DR-5A mods?

So I grabbed a pair of these last week from a studio selling all their stuff among a few other phones. Immediately I noticed how articulate these are for a headphone that is almost 50 years old. Wow! They have a good balance and detail is there. Not what I expected from a big paper driver at...

    BOSE Headphone Mods

I have the OE1s. The best mods for this headphone are to cover the two ports on the bottom with thick tape and upgrade the detachable cable. It takes about 2 minutes and is so easy a 1 year old could do it. With the mods on the OEs they easily outperform all the regular Beats/Sol/etc. and...

    Beyerdynamic's DT150 vs. DT770 vs. DT770M: I'm looking for noise isolating cans

Another follow up. The DT770M have the best midrange of any of my cans. DT-48 owners will like these alot. The detail in the midband is very good. Better than the DT480 I have, which is excellent but still different- those metal drivers have such a unique sound. And overall, it is a draw with...

    Beyerdynamic's DT150 vs. DT770 vs. DT770M: I'm looking for noise isolating cans

These have more clamping force than the Premiums. But that is really easy to remedy by carefully stretching out the band. I figured everyone did that anyway. But yes, I do notice more clamp on the ears and less down pressure from the headband. You probably could float the headband with the...

    Beyerdynamic's DT150 vs. DT770 vs. DT770M: I'm looking for noise isolating cans

They are like any other Beyer that shares the same frame. Typical Beyer comfort and lightweight. I can wear them for hours even with the goofy volume control. I don't notice it. I think the pleather pads are less comfortable than the velours but they isolate way better so I'm leaving them on...
