I'm checking for updates on this old thread. After searching all over Google, Amazon and eBay I've only found $30 adapters or questionably too long to work. Is zombie making these again? I'd not, has someone found a low cost alternative?

80 dB? Please review your numbers. Tube: I have that tube in the Aune T1. The Aune is to bright for me so I have also searched for a tube to roll off the treble. Don't have a Mullard. Several Amperex and the upgraded stock are all bright in it. The Russian tubes have a little more bottom end...

I didn't pull the trigger when the Aurvana 3 was <$50. I was skeptical about the sound signature and waited. Haven't seen them near that price for a month or more.

Ooh, please provide more detail.  The Aune T1 is too bright for me, even after rolling tubes to several Amperex and others.

The is my experience, as well. I'm comparing the HE-400 to the 250 Ohm "Pro" version of the 990, but the HE-400 doesn't sound as bright to me. The DT880 (600 Ohm Premium) is a nice balance but not as fun as the HE-400.

I agree. The E17 isn't as resolving as my other DAC/amp, the Aune T1. However, the E17 has some tone control and seems to have a slight treble rolloff or low emphasis that is enjoyable on the HE-400. That headphone can be a little sibilant and I'm very susceptible to hot treble.

This.  They sound good and are comfortable.  One ear seems to touch more than the other side, but I think it's just me.  My son loves them.  Oh, and try them w/out the noise cancelling first.
