Jude Cole - anyone?
Just wondering if there are any other fans of his music. I have #2- "A View from 3rd Street", #4-"I Don't Know Why I Act This Way", and #3-"Start The Car" is on the way here. I've enjoyed listening to his second album for years. It is one of the few I can listen to without skipping tracks... -
What d those DIDX numbers mean on older CDs?
A lot of my earlier release CDs have a 4 digit number with a DIDX prefix. They are on my Alan Parsons Project CDs (Arista), Ultravox (Chrysalis), and even a Thomas Dolby one (Capital), and other bands under those same labels. Speaking of such stuff, my German Cds have a circle/oval logo on...- rohorn

Denon DCD-1290: anybody here have/had one?
Recently, I found said CD player in mint condition at a thrift store for $75.00. It's on my desk now. It still has that "new CD player smell" every time I load a CD in it. Anyway, it has a variable volume headphone jack that sounds surprisingly good. It has 2 sets of RCA out jacks: fixed and...- rohorn

Beginner's Guide To Tube Audio Audio Reality I got both of these a few weeks ago. The reviews at the above links are better than what I was going to write. There's nothing headphone related in any of them, but there is more than enough useful info in them for anybody interested in...- rohorn

Nonexisting albums/bands you've listened to in your dreams
Just wondering if anybody else here ever listens to music in their dreams that doesn't really exist. I keep having dreams about going to my childhood home and finding a handful of CDs that I've been hoping to find for ages. Then I listen to them and enjoy the daylights out of them. Both the... -

WOT: Pic's, Stamps, AVR's (microcontrollers)
I was just wondering if anybody here messed with microcontrollers at all. I am thinking of getting a Basic Stamp setup from Parallax in order to do some brushless motor commutation experiments (see profile as to why...) It seems there are more powerful ones, such as the AVR, other assorted...- rohorn

Imation RipGo! portable CD-R/MP3 drive
Whilst eating my delicious Sunday morning breakfast (Pepsi, pop-tarts, and a SlimJim) and perusing the ads in the morning news, I saw an ad for Imation's RipGo! portable drive. It is supposed to be able to record CDs as well as play them back - even MP3s. The ad was from CompUSA. The price is...- rohorn

loudspeaker and HEADPHONE handbook
I was browsing my way through one of the numerous bookmongers in these parts and saw a copy of John Borwick's "Loudspeaker and Headphone Handbook". It has only one chapter on headphones - and it is near the back. Still, it has a lot of information in it - or at least I got that impression. It is...- rohorn

Four channel headphones - for real this time
JVC 4 channel headphones on eBay Speaking of older JVC headphones, does anybody remember the boxy looking ones they made about 20 years ago? The speakers were mounted in front of your ears instead of being directly outboard of them. The theory was that they would sound more natural. They...- rohorn

RIAA LP eq curve(s)
Back when I was in high school (late '70's), a friend of my Dad's gave me a large stack of his old classical records. One of them was a '50's stereo LP of Bizet's Carmen suite. The bass was very exagerated, but it was fun to rattle the house with it when nobody was home. I was told that the RIAA...- rohorn

Etymotic Training Aid!
Training Etymotics!! These earplugs have the same type of tip as the Etymotic ER-4s. The cable is rubbery - and somewhat microphonic as well. These earplugs are great for all of life's worthwhile pursuits: shooting, motorsports, and around the machine shop. I use them all day/every day...- rohorn
