DAC popping/skipping when browsing with Opera
After building my new PC there is no more popping from the DAC, so I guess I can assume it was my motherboard. Thanks for the help though, NA Blur.- Iorek

DAC popping/skipping when browsing with Opera
I always have Windows sounds turned off. I tried every USB port on my PC, including the front ones, and there was no difference. foobar2000 is configured correctly, and the file size makes no difference. I did notice, however, that using WASAPI out seemed to help a bit. I did a complete...- Iorek

DAC popping/skipping when browsing with Opera
So I've got an interesting problem, and this is probably a long-shot as it's a pretty specific issue. I've got a CEntrance DACmini CX (using USB input), and the playback is perfect except when I'm listening to music and browsing the web with Opera at the same time. When I'm browsing I'll get...- Iorek

Windows 7 Volume
Hey all, I was hoping people could give me some insight as to how they manage their software volumes inside of Windows, particularly Windows 7. I've read that it's best to keep digital volumes at 100% or as close to 100% as possible; however, I find that if I do that I have to keep...- Iorek

CEntrance DACmini DAC/Amplifier Official Thread
So I'm borrowing a pair of HD800s from a friend, and with the Windows volume maxed, I can only take the volume knob to 8 o'clock. In the 6moon review of the DACmini they state that when using the HD800 with the DACmini most people would want the volume at 12-2:30. For me even 10 o'clock is...- Iorek

ATH-W1000X Thread!
Yeah, that's how I was bending them. I think they've reached their limit though and they don't seem like they'll bend any more. I think I have a good seal, I'm just used to my HD595s. They fit nice and snug so no matter what I'm doing they stay in place. Not sure how I feel about having to stay...- Iorek

ATH-W1000X Thread!
Got my W1000x headphones today. I tried them for a while, but found them incredibly uncomfortable. Fortunately I had ordered the L3000 pads ahead of time. The ear hole in those was about 1/4" wider than the stock pads, and man what a world of difference they made. The headphones are much more...- Iorek

Adam A5X speaker questions
Quote: That sounds like a good idea. I did a bit of research yesterday on the Adams, and while I have no problem with a flat frequency response, some have described the monitors as shrill and fatiguing. I should have mentioned... these are for listening only... music and... -
Adam A5X speaker questions
I assumed that controlling the volume via the knob on the speakers would be fine... is that not the case? If it were absolutely necessary I could get the variable line out mod for my CX. -
Adam A5X speaker questions
Hey all, Thinking about getting a pair of Adam A5X speakers to go along with a new PC build soon, but I had a couple questions. These will be my first pair of active speakers, so I just wanted to confirm that I'll be fine with my setup. The source will be a CEntrance DACmini CX...- Iorek

Quote: Right now I am using Sennheiser HD595s, but I'm about to upgrade to Audio Technica W1000x, which are even more sensitive. Quote: I'm using the USB input which according to CEntrance's site has a S/N of 113dB, so I can only lower the volume 17 dB before degradation...- Iorek

CEntrance DACmini DAC/Amplifier Official Thread
Quote: Sorry, I should have clarified. I'm really only concerned with the headphones. While the speakers are also imbalanced, they operate on their own potentiometer, so I'm sure that's their problem. At 9 o'clock is where I consider the volume to be comfortable, but that's...- Iorek

CEntrance DACmini DAC/Amplifier Official Thread
Hello all, I recently ordered and received a DACmini CX with the 1ohm mod. I'll be ordering a pair of Audio Technica W1000x headphones to pair with it soon, but for now I'm using Sennheiser HD595s as well as a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. It looks and sounds great; however, I do have one...- Iorek

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
Any opinions on the Burson HA-160D for the AT W1000x? It seems fairly good for my price range. Also, noob question, but can I use the pre-out out for my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers if I use a 3.5mm -> RCA adapter? I've never used pre-outs, so I don't really know how they work. If that didn't...- Iorek

Well like I said, I'm willing to shell out up to $1,000 for the DAC/amp, so I'm not really on that tight of a budget. I was considering the Schitt Bifrost + Asgard, but the Bifrost only has one output, so that's a no-go. Quote:- Iorek

Hello, I posted a number of pages ago looking for headphone, DAC, and amp advice. I've settled on the Audio Technica W1000x headphones, but I'm still at a loss as to which DAC/amp I should get. My two limiting factors are: 1) The DAC needs to have two outputs as I'll be using a Klipsch Pro...- Iorek

Thanks! I hadn't even looked at Audio Technica headphones, but after reading some reviews, the W1000X definitely seems like it would fit my needs very well. The one thing that concerns me is that they're somewhat of a bad fit for smaller heads, which I probably have. What kind of an amp would...- Iorek

Hello, I'm glad I saw this thread before starting a new one! I'm in the market for headphones and an amp. I've done a ton of research, but keep going back and forth and I'm having a great deal of trouble deciding on something. Source is .flac files on the PC through a Xonar Essence ST...- Iorek

That's originally the headphone I was going with, but then I read about the 5-7 o'clock "blind spot" on the 880s and the wider soundstage on the 990s. Don't get me wrong, I actually like a V-shaped curve, but from most accounts the highs are too harsh on the 990 and I would like to mellow them a...- Iorek

Hello all, first time poster here. I've spent most of the weekend researching headphones/DACs/amps on this forum and other various sources. The primary use is going to be non-competitive gaming. I'm not a super serious music listener and I typically use my Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers for...- Iorek
