USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
I really love the sound of it playing through my android device so I imagine when I plug in a decent DAC it will be great, hence the thanks. No worries about the hifiman, I don't plan on using it- ballfan

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
I just unsuccessfully experimented with a Hifiman hm-101 connected via a plugable self powered usb hub. When that didn't work I just listened to some music through android, and already WOW! I'm sold! Just need to upgrade my DAC! Thanks Davy!!!- ballfan

Denon AH-D2000, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250ohm, Beyerdynamic DT880 600ohm, AKG Q701, used Sennheiser HD580/600, or save & wait?
The Denons are closed and I know among the Beyer pairs, one is open and the other is semi open. I have the Denons and they are great. They don't isolate that well, they block out a bit of sound but not too much, and don't seem to have that much of a closed sound to me. I love the D2000, I use...- ballfan

Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread!
I've only had my Markl modded 2ks for a few days, but I've loved every minute of them. Paired with a JDS lab cmoy, they sound phenomenal. The bass is tight and defined. They sound very balanced and detailed. Amazing headphones. For under $400 they are a great value.- ballfan

A friend of mine wants some portable, closed, isolating, full-size headphones. US$500, maybe $600.
i have the d2000's and i use them mostly with a jds lab cmoy and i think they make a great pairing. ive listened to the cans straight from an iphone and the sound is fine, but the sound is better, and more lively from the cmoy. if you want more details i can try and give specifics.- ballfan

Recommendations for good closed-back headphones? Considering Ultrasone Pro 900? What else?
Before I decided to purchase headphones recently I did a lot of research and talked to a friend who has been a sound engineer for over three decades and he highly recommended that I go in the IEM direction. If you want supra-aural cans Denon's line are supposed to be great.- ballfan

Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011
Even if you have cans that isolate noise, they won't isolate all frequencies. I have the HD280 pros now, which isolate great on the street, but on an airplane, I still have to turn the volume up to drown out the low frequency rumble of the engine. I also have the Markl MD2000 on the way. I'll...- ballfan

questions about cmoy portable amps
i received a jds lab cmoy after a couple weeks of research. john seaber of jds labs emailed back and forth with me, and gave me sound advice without any commitment to buy his product. he was fantastic and a pleasure to deal with. on top of that his product is great. having a bass boost option is...- ballfan
