Sony NW-HD3 (full review)
I find the volume just fine - I've never had it on full volume yet. However, if you intend using it in a noisy environment (on the tube for instance) then bear in mind the volume doesn't go *really* loud. But rather than trying to drown out the background noise and making yourself deaf in the...- Shattered

It supports wma and wav in as much as SonicStage will recognise them and convert the files to Atrac. The NW-HD3 only supports MP3 and Atrac - take a look at the back of your player. The info on Amazon is a bit misleading.- Shattered

The NW-HD3 doesn't look at all plasticky in the flesh. I've got the black one and it looks and feels extremely well built. http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P...2.LZZZZZZZ.jpg- Shattered

The RM-MC35ELK works with the HD-NW series, but I don't believe you can access the Menu and Mode functions with this.- Shattered

I've sent you a PM - not sure about forum rules on linking to auctions. So how many hours is everyone getting from the NW-HD3? Mines in need of charging again. I'm starting to think that it might be my fault. Here's my thinking.. If I listen to 5 secs of a track, then skip to the next one...- Shattered

Thanks Andy - I wouldn't pay £75 for it but I know some people prefer to buy things from a shop rather than use the internet. They're down to £42 on eBay with shipping so I might get one today. I wonder when Sony are going to update their support website with details of the NW-HD3? It's like...- Shattered

Is anyone managing to get 20-odd hours out of this? I'm hoping the battery needs a few charges to reach it's maximum performance as I'm only getting 6 hours or so out of it at the moment (mainly using 128/192 MP3s with no equaliser on), although I am skipping tracks now and then and doing the...- Shattered

Does anyone know what sort of lead I would need if I want to connect the line-out to an amp? I'd like to be able to use the mp3 player through my hi-fi. Is it the same connection/lead as Sony MD players? Should have edited above post, just realised - sorry.- Shattered

It does tell you to connect the mains adapter, but it still transfers, even with that message on the screen.- Shattered

Sony NW-HD3 (full review)
To clear up a couple of concerns raised earlier in this thread, I've had my NW-HD3 for a few days now and it certainly does remember the last position (song / album) if you press the left button instead of Mode, and even with MP3s it seems pretty gapless to me. It starts the next track virtually...- Shattered

Pre-ordered it on Amazon.co.uk - it says it's due to ship on 19th Dec but I'd be surprised if I actually receive it Monday. I did next day delivery for an extra fiver.- Shattered

Mavis mentioned in the review that the backlight isn't very bright, making the screen difficult to read. Is the blue-lit screen on the other coloured models any brighter?- Shattered

Thanks for the detailed review Mavis. I've pre-ordered one and should hopefully get it Monday (20th). Whilst I'm waiting for it, I thought I'd download SonicStage 2.3 and start importing my MP3s. Now I've never used SS before and if it wasn't for the fact I have to use it I wouldn't be now...- Shattered
