[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
I decided to provide a utilitarian review of the Sony MH1C on Amazon; hopefully someone here finds it useful: I stopped looking for the ideal pair of headphones after finding these. I was searching for something that was durable, provided excellent noise isolation, could accommodate eartips...- Scuttlebutte

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
Quote: After giving a few MH1Cs fitted with these tips away, I had a recipient whose ear canals were too small to comfortably accommodate even the small olives on the silicon tubing I specified in the earlier post. I found a workaround though: 1. De-core two small olives...- Scuttlebutte

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
On a sidenote: when I was first using the custom deep-insertion tips I was noticing more earwax on my Olives than with the shallow-insertion tips. After reading through some forum threads, I decided to rinse my ear canals while in the shower, by putting each ear in the line of spray of the...- Scuttlebutte

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
Another benefit to the tip design I depicted earlier in this thread (supergluing de-cored Shure Olives to a custom core comprised of silicon tubing) is that it significantly reduces occlusion effect if you make the silicon cores long enough for the olives to reach the bony portion of your ear...- Scuttlebutte

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
In case anybody else ordered an MH1 and is waiting 25-35 days for their OMTP to CTIA adapter to ship from the far east--if you take a small binder clip, take the handles off, bend all four corners up about 30 degrees with a needlenose pliers, put the handles back on, put the clip over the middle...- Scuttlebutte

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
Quote: Nice job! I love Olives. I'll have to try this out soon :) How is the sound vs. the stock silicone? To my ears, the olives dampened the harshness of the treble, and somewhat reduced the boominess/fullness of the low end. I had to hook them up to an amp to get the low...- Scuttlebutte

[REVIEW] Sony MH1 – The Best Kept Secret
In case this information might be of use to anyone... I'm a fan of Shure olives (Shure PA910 black foam sleeves) because of their overall functionality (they provide good noise isolation, are durable, and enhance bass), and I think I came up with a very good way to get them to fit the...- Scuttlebutte

Philips SHE3580 IEM review--how can something sound so good for $10???
ZO2 + SHE-3580 + Shure Olives = bass monster with a ridiculous amp/headphone cost ratio. There's a night club in my head with this combo...- Scuttlebutte

The discovery thread!
Quote: I am 100+ hours into burn-in with the Isurus, and was comparing them to some Brainwavs M1s last night, along with the Monoprice 8320s, Philips SHE-3580s, and Hifiman Re0s. All IEMs were fitted with Shure Olive tips by gluing de-cored olives to stock IEM cores using silicon...- Scuttlebutte

Re0s and Bass
Thanks folks--I'm going to look into the ZO. Would be interested in trying either the TF 10s or EX600 someday, but I just fronted a few too many bones for a pair of IEMs that compliment the Re0s and don't want to accumulate further guilt (although guilt accompanied by sonically pleasing tales...- Scuttlebutte

Re0s and Bass
Does anybody have any recommendations for making the Re0s more bass-ey? I currently use the Re0s (equipped with Shure Olives) with a Cowon J3. I might be in the market for a portable amp, but the selection is making it a little overwhelming for me to make a purchase without some advice folks...- Scuttlebutte

Quote: This is a little too late, but anyways...a little tip to get the olives to fit better on the Re0s (or other IEMs), in case no one else has suggested it already. Take two of the stock silicon tips (preferrably the smallest/thinnest ones, but they all should work), cut off the...- Scuttlebutte

Cowon J3 JetEffect Settings for Head-Direct Re0s
You're probably right...but it would be nice to see what other people's settings are for the sake of comparison and experimentation. As much as I had tried to fine-tune my settings to the liking of my ears, there are so many settings to manipulate with the J3 that I am sure I still have some...- Scuttlebutte

Cowon J3 JetEffect Settings for Head-Direct Re0s
Does anybody have suggested Jeteffect settings for using the Head Direct Re0s with a Cowon J3? There are so many settings that can be adjusted, it seems very overwhelming. These are current settings on my J3: EQ: 80 Hz, Wide, 9dB 300 Hz, Wide, 10 dB 780 Hz, Wide, 4 dB 1.8...- Scuttlebutte
