Audiophile quality headphones for BASSheads?
by default it uses 3.5mm jack no the 6.3mm so you dont have the awkward boner in sweatpants situation if you decide to use the 3.5mm to add to that, there are negatives 1. gets sweaty if you in a relatively hot enviornment, but only if you where them for like hours 2. personally I...- jz9chen

Audiophile quality headphones for BASSheads?
deep bass extension (want that subsonic bass) is more important than an ultra boosted bass level <--- HD380 has lots of subsonic bass, it's also easy to drive so you can try it with your portable at a local store even if you don't have a portable amp regarding the mids and hi's, they're also...- jz9chen

Audiophile quality headphones for BASSheads?
I haven't. Did you mean you want the bass to not only go low, but also be louder than the mid/hi freq? like the Beats are designed to be but audiophile quality? Then the HD380's are considered generally flat. The kick on tracks like Usher's DJ Got Us Fallin' and other dance-pop/kick heavy...- jz9chen

.
VBR=variable bit rate meaning when needed, the bit rate will increase use this if the avg bitrate is <320 CBR=constant bit rate meaning the bit rate is what it says it is through the entire song use this if the bitrate is 320- jz9chen

Hi, AAC/m4a 256kbps or MP3 320kbps?
I convert FLAC/APE to 511kbps AAC for iPod/iPhone listening. I keep MP3's the way I get them. If I rip CD's then I just use ALAC for iPod/iPhone. Foobar2000 runs it too.- jz9chen

Shure se425: Spotty Sound Quality
Quote: Um...unless ur set is broken it shouldn't sound bad. The highs are known to be less bright than what most prefer, however. But I find it just right. Maybe it comes down to preference, and also, it may take time to appreciate the sound signature.- jz9chen

Review by 'jz9chen' on item 'Shure SE425 Earphone'
Value I got mine open-box off of ebay for 249.99 compared to other prices of 299.99. Couldn't tell the box was opened. Audio Quality Initial/Pre-burn-in My other and only "high end" headphone was the bass heavy Turbines. Initially, I was disappointed by the 425's as they were really...- jz9chen

Will playing FLAC/APE etc off of a laptop sound better/same/worse than a portable player?
Would a Sony Vaio Z laptop and a HIFI DAC such as Colorful's Colorfly render the same quality sound with the same audio file and headphone? I use a Shure SE425 so it isn't the BEST of the best. *I'm new to the scene =)- jz9chen
