Shure SRH 840 not enough 500hz?? Recommend me something??
I'm a big metal fan too... try the eq i have above and tell me what you think, when I listen to some stuff that I really really know accurately (killswitch engage for example) once i add the 500hz in it sounds "correct". I just hate having to do that eq.- justyourboy

Shure SRH 840 not enough 500hz?? Recommend me something??
Hey Guys! I've been on the search for the perfect pair of headphones to use as reference for tuning PA systems when I am gigging (I'm a monitor and FOH engineer by trade)... To me the Shure SRH840's sound PERFECT after this EQ in itunes is applied (which is funny because I usually never...- justyourboy

New JH7's and a preview of my JH16s I'm ordering tomorrow
Well guys, here is my update: After ordering the 16s I freaked out and called Chris and had the order changed to 13s. After talking with some colleagues in the business we determined it would be smarter for me to grab the 13s. I received them today. First impressions: Wow, I don't...- justyourboy

New JH7's and a preview of my JH16s I'm ordering tomorrow
Hey guys! been a while since I posted here! When I last posted I was probably in college for audio engineering and only had a pair of JH5s. Anyways, I was working for Carnival Cruise Lines recently as their Sound Tech and they got me and the production cast some IEMs on their dime. The cast...- justyourboy

Need new IEM recommendation...
How do JH7s compare to JH16s?? I'm pretty sure that if I go JH Audio route again (which I always have thus far) that I will probably get the 16s...- justyourboy

Need new IEM recommendation...
I currently own JH5's and JH7's. My JH5's are great for the gym, and what ever. My JH7's work well for doing monitors for now. But I am looking for a pair of IEMs for FOH now. I have found that a well tuned PA system tends to sound very similar to my Shure SRH 840s and because of that I...- justyourboy

Review by 'justyourboy' on item 'Shure SRH840'
To give you an idea of where I'm coming from I have owned JH audio JH5 IEMs, Fostex T50rps, and Audio Technica ATH-M50x's. My Fostex T50rps were issued to me at audio engineering school and were what I used as reference for a long time and I loved their natural mids. My JH5's are also very flat...- justyourboy

On ear headphones under $250 (comfortable).
I would like to spend $250 or less on a pair of on ear headphones, could you recommend me something? They have to be: Comfortable Closed back design (don't want lots of leakage... these will be use for the gym and on planes) Sound signature: For the most part I enjoy a very natural sound...- justyourboy

Monitor Engineers. Should I get JH-7's or JH'11's?
It's been a while since I've been on here. I currently have JH-5's which were a great first IEM and now that I'm doing more monitor engineering locally (and might be doing touring in the near future) I want to upgrade to at least 7's. My questions are: Would you recommend the 7's or 11's...- justyourboy

Is anyone else disgusted
Since you have EQu I will also ask... I saw that you can make many different eq curves... for each one you do it's represented by a green circle, how many of the circles can you have going at once? I will most likely want to eq very tediously- justyourboy

Didn't know about the EQ apps! Thank you. and "grossly scooped" could mean anything but i said "grossly scooped mids" as in the mids were scooped out... it's a term mostly used between guitarists. Black and yellow as in the dumb hip hop song that's on the radio lately... Rap sounds decent is...- justyourboy

About the sound signature of the iPod touch 4g? Too much bass and the mids sound grossly scooped. Great for listening to "black and yellow" but everything else like my rock or metal generally sounds too big... The old Rush records sound good because they're kinda thin and get beefed up but I...- justyourboy

JH Audio JH5pro thread
Hey boys I'm back after a hiatus from this site for I don't know how long (nor what for!). I didn't have to get a refit... upon playing drums to a cd with these on I used the high hat as a great seal indicator and realized when twisting the IEM's all the way back to insert, after that my left...- justyourboy

I've found what works good is wearing the cable behind my neck like rockstar style instead of ipod style and tightening the plastic strip up very tight... pulls on the left ear into position ahhaha And the seal like never breaks.... can open my mouth REAL wide it just has less isolation... but...- justyourboy

If I push where I circled the sound quality increases slightly and the isolation problem is fixed, but it's only while I'm pressing... i just hope if I tell JH audio all this it will be enough for them to know exactly what the deal is just because I've heard of people needing multiple re-fits...- justyourboy

I might have to send my left IEM for a refit.... it's a strange story. When inserting the right IEM I can feel it LOCK right in. and the isolation is great, with the left it doesn't exactly lock in just kinda goes in and the isolation isn't as good. (tried the finger snap on both ears test)...- justyourboy

These JH 5's seem to sound best to me during long listening sessions... good or bad thing? idk... because as I like it, I don't remember me liking them this much when I first put them in every time. Maybe I just hit a big hump in the burn in process and they'll sound this great to me every time...- justyourboy
