AS far as making the pros and cons clear, i think a slide of text on the video listing these pros and cons quickly would be great.

Monster Turbine Challenge - Reviewers Wanted!

I would like to take part as well. Just entering the audio world and own a sennheiser CX300 and the Hd280 Pro. Like both but I want to try out the monster series of headphones. I've heard excellent things about the copper series. My rig is pretty simple but to my ears sound good. Rig: iphone...

Why aren't there any 60mm drivers?

i think the fact that trebel is harder to produce w/ giant drivers is true just imagine the energy draw of trying to vibrate something of that mass a such a high frequency.  E= mv^2 so if the velocity of the driver's vibration increases then more and more energy is required.

New here and just wondering about my setup

that is a good beginner set-up. have fun with it. the only thing that i would nitpick is that the money on the 595 was wasted because the 555 has to same driver. a couple of mods would get you identical sound at a lower price.

    new hd 555's crackling

the popping and other sounds are from the headphones clipping the sound because they are being overdriven

Monster Turbine - Genuine or Fake? Please check

Quote: yeah, that's the one.  If it sounds good, then it should be legit. if it is a fake, the sound won't be good. Yeah, i'm sure they are supposed to be on the bassy side.

Monster Turbine - Genuine or Fake? Please check

they look legit from a video i saw. it was posted recently. on august 27. Take a listen. if they sound on par with the sound signature described by the folks here, you should be fine. If it is fake, it probably is going to sound pretty bad.

I am almost positive that the Audio Technica ATH-WS70 is what I need but am not 100% certain.

It turns out in that thread that the headphones are terrible. Go with the M50. apparently the WS70 sounded good before burn in but after it sounded terrible.

I am almost positive that the Audio Technica ATH-WS70 is what I need but am not 100% certain.

from what i saw from some reviews, the WS70 has tight bass that comes and decays fast. the impact is good but the bass doesn't stick around for long. If what you are looking for is the booming subwoofer kind of bass, i would look elsewhere.   EDIT: OP, i would...

The ATH-M50 has had a reputation of being bassy. Give that a shot.

I think you might want something from Grado as that caters more to the rock/ metal camp.

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro vs Shure SRH440

I have had the HD 280 for a few months. got them at the beginning of 2010. It dies get better. the bass does open up, the highs get less shrill. So just burn it in like crazy. non-stop for like 50-70 hrs. if you don't do that, you are going to be stuck with a crappy sounding headphone that is...

    the jerry harvey truth

OP, if you didn't know, Knowles is the source for drivers for many manufactures. Actually, i don't think that any company actually makes the drivers in house. they don't do this as this would be very expensive and why do it  when external sources are very good. knowles makes the drivers for both...

Full-size suggestions (another one of these threads)

how about a pair of HD-555 headphones from sennheiser? or if you are looking for something of the closed variety, the ATH- M50 from audio technica.

    Movie audio track with headphones

you can only use the stereo version... considering you only have 2 "speakers" for output. anything higher would be mixed down to stereo anyways.

    The bassheads dream?

I have heard that the denon D2000 headphones have a very good bass and if you want good audio quality from here on out, i highly suggest ripping in either 320kbps AAC/MP3 or preferably in Apple lossless. At this point, i think evne just upgrading your files would bea decent step up as the SE530...

closed back headphone for working area?

if its isolation you're after, might i suggest going for IEMs instead? these isolate far more sound than any full size can will.

James444's IEM giveaway thread (competition has ended - see post #344 and #354 for winners!)

I did do some research to find out about the sound of the iems mentioned above. The FX500 , atrio M5 and the PR2 are bassy iems. the pr1 pro is more neutral. I also heard that the ATH- CK100 is very nice for its price. I wasn't able to dig up much on the cmk70 though. I expect it is good though...
