The gumby is an exact match size wise and disappears right underneath the MJ2. It's a little awkward with the Bf2 and the MJ2 trying to put the bf2 on top. Good luck on your search. Give ebay a look. There's 2 on there now lol. :beerchug:

Nope. You can use CV4034 which is 12au7 with those adapters. Technically the CV4033 will work but the gain is too high for the LP. CV4034 is the tube you need for the LP. Cheers!

Figured I'd add to this listing. There's only 4 of these Modded MJ2 in existence. All caps have been replaced with top quality ones( Nichicon fine golds and Elna silmic 2 ) It totally blows away the stock model in every aspect. I do miss this rig and wish that I could purchase it back...

I never really paid attention to matching tube tolerances. Hell... I've put sets together. As long as the tubes test good and are somewhat close I think you're good to go @ShortBtwnHdset

I've ran the 6414 tubes in the MJ2. They are over the specs and I didn't have any issues but I wouldn't recommend using them. Honestly they're nothing special sound wise. Huge soundstage but resolution and imaging are ok.

The Gumby(balanced) is the better dac imo. Especially in the micro and macro dynamics, resolution and dimensionality.

Not sure who told you that but me personally would disagree. Tonally, there's really no difference in SQ between balanced and unbalanced in the BF2. The only difference that I was able to hear when I had the BF2 was a slight difference in the stage and imaging. Balanced seemed just a tad bit...

Just remember. The CV4033 is only compatible with your MJ2. 12at7 doesn't work in the LP. Now... with that said. You can use the CV4034 in the LP. It's a 12au7.

We did 3 of them with the Alps pots and it wasn't easy. Required front plate modification.
