Which feature do you most want to see from Rockbox in our X series players?
1. Auto resume for audiobook/podcast files (or any spoken word content). Something like a dedicated "audiobook" folder so all files (including files in sub folders) will always automatically resume (but all music files will not auto resume). I still use an old 5.5G iPod with stock firmware... -
Looking for a better source for my microphone (a modmic)
The Titanium HD has RCA connectors for the line in, so I just used a standard stereo RCA cable from the Main Mix (output) to the line in. I believe the Xonar DX has a 3.5mm line in, so you will need an RCA to 3.5mm audio cable. As for using it as a USB audio input device, I had no...- Prowler

Looking for a better source for my microphone (a modmic)
Great choice as I had a similar problem with my Titanium HD in that it has no gain setting for the microphone input... I also tried using the mic input on my motherboard as it has 3 gain settings but it is so noisy (background hiss) that it is useless. One thing about the Xenyx 302USB when I...- Prowler

SE530/535 Acoustic Filter Mod: More SQ improvement than cables? Dampers!
Actually I think Shure got it right, though I do find the Knowles whites a bit better than stock Shures... so maybe Shure should have used Knowles. :) The browns are nice but I do hear a little less detail from them so currently I'm using the whites... I might have another go with the...- Prowler

SE530/535 Acoustic Filter Mod: More SQ improvement than cables? Dampers!
You were just a bit too late as I received my order yesterday... mouser does have a USPS shipping option that is only $8, so not too bad actually. I got the grey, white, and brown. After some quick listening I was pretty much in agreement with what others have said: grey - more...- Prowler

About to convert 500 CD's to digital - Suggestions on best software to listen to music?
what calaf says... I recently ripped my entire collection and after trying various ripping software EAC is the only software you should use. I ripped over 260 CDs, the result was 3 CDs had physical scratches I had to buff out to successfully achieve and accurate rip, and one CD had a bit... -
Worst recorded/Mastered Albums
Rage Against The Machine - Renegades... album replay gain: -11.98 dB All RATM sounds like it suffers from the loudness war, but Renegades is unlistenable, it has obvious clipping. What's perhaps interesting (but maybe not surprising) is the album gain progressively gets higher with each... -

Lossless vs 128kbps mp3 vs 320kbps mp3 blind test
Even though the test was concluded (results were posted in a spoiler, really I didn't peek, didn't read any other posts, didn't even notice just how old the first post was, really!), here are my results. I made a notepad++ document and I'll paste it into a spoiler. Before doing this test I...- Prowler

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
Quote: Hah, certainly not easy. Just last night I did your 128 kbps, 320 kbps, lossless test (didn't notice it till it recently got bumped) and successfully identified groups 1 and 3. I'll admit I ended up spending about an hour though... didn't realize it until I looked at the clock...- Prowler

Pink Noise / White Noise
I made a Winamp plugin a while ago to generate pink noise... I learned it's not so trivial how to generate pink noise (compared to white or brown). http://www.winamp.com/plugin/the-colours-of-noise/221540- Prowler

Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium HD + K702 Bass Distortion
I have a Titanium HD and use a FiiO E09k too. The only time I have noticed what sounds like very slight bass distortion (sounds like mild clipping if I listen to some DnB tracks) is if I use Foobar with ASIO... so needless to say I don't bother with ASIO. I think you sorta answered your...- Prowler

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought
I bought an E17 about a week ago and I immediately noticed a strong fuel/petroleum like smell when I opened the box. I saw some posts in the E12 thread mentioning this but so far nothing about E17s with an odor. In order of worst to least affected: silica gel pack (of course I tossed it out...- Prowler

Modding the Sennheiser pc350 headset
Quote: Instead of removing the volume control, I soldered jumpers at the 6 pins of the volume control. Actually two pins are adjacent so a simple solder bridge works and then a jumper of wire for the other connection. Anyway, I was a bit lazy to de-solder the thing and figure if it's...- Prowler

Modding the Sennheiser pc350 headset
Quote: Yes, I would like to know how to do this. It seems for me that over the years the volume control is wearing out... if I turn the wheel to max volume then the balance is off, so I have to back it off a little bit and sometimes rock it back and forth. Very annoying.- Prowler

Modding the Sennheiser pc350 headset
I've had my PC 350 headset for over a year and while it's the best headset I've ever owned, I have always felt it was not worth the price because of the subdued bass. With that said I was still a bit hesitant to try this mod because the phones do have amazing clarity and I didn't want to screw...- Prowler
